Secretary of the Navy didn’t come
as a surprise to some West Tex-
ans.
To his friends in Abilene, it is
just another step in a long num-
ber of important posts in s busy
life.
Anderson is chairman of the
state board of education, past pres,
ident of Texas Mid-Continent Oil
& Gas Association, s trustee of
McMurry College and chairman of
the board of directors of the great-

businessman, professor, state re-

proved to West Texans that he is
an administrator who can paddle
his own canoe.

of McMurry College, expressed

Anderson, from speeches made

the University of Texas, Anderson
