Committee Counsel Robert F.
Kennedy thus summed up the evi
donee just before the senators re-
cessed their hearing for the week-
Workers.
Heaton tesified that Anthony Heaton also testified that James
Doria, ousted secretary-treasurer R. Hoffa, a vice president of the
of the Allied Industrial Workers ~
was promised $80,000 if he got out
of the union. Doria was involved
in welfare fund scandals.

But the witness said he had seen
Hoffa and Dio together at labor
conventons.
Questioners, try as they might,
could get him to go no further
than agree with them that Hoffa
and Dio were more than speaking
acquaintances.
Chairman McClellan (D - Ark)
and other members of the com-
mittee are digging for evidence,
in advance of Hoffa's appearance
as a witness, to buttress their con-
tention that there is a corrupt al-
liance between Hoffa and Dio.
Dio himself shed no light on
this. He claimed the privilege
against self-incrimination yester-
day when asked whether he knew
Hoffa. He claimed it 139 other
times.
Heaton, who is 48 but looks
much older, testified that as pres-
ident of the United Auto Workers
he raised no objection to paying
Dio $16,000 for getting‘out of the
uniop.
Heaton said Dio demanded $10,-
000 as his price for quitting the
union, but that he upped the ante
to $16,000 and received that
amount.

COME AND SEE
When two of John the Baptizer’s disciples inquired where
Jesus lived, he answered "Come and ye shall see." Uohn 1:39)

tion of simple New Testament Christianity invite others to COME
AND SEE!
May we urge you to come end see for yourself the Bible
truths being preached in churches of Christ across the country.
Come and see why thousands of sincere believers ere de-
ciding to accept the undenominational position in religion.
Come end see why more end more people are willing to
wear only the name of Christ and be celled simply "Christians."
Come end see why so many sincere Christians are refusing
to be divided by man-made creeds or human organizations.
Come end see why the movement to go back to Christ
as our only creed, the Bible es our only rule of faith, is gaining
support not only in the United States, but spontaneously in Indio,
Africa, Russia, and many countries in Europe.
Come and sca for yourself Do not depend upon hearsay,
but investigate the plea for "New Testament Christianity" in this
age.

Income Tax
Cuts to Get
Demo Study
WASHINGTON, Aug. 9 @ -
House Democrats agreed today to
consider income tax cuts at the
next session of Congress starting
in January.
The decision was reached at a
closed-door conference of Speaker
Rayburn of Texas and Democratic
members of the Ways and Means
Committee which handles tax leg-
islation.
The action was interpreted to
mean that Democrats are deter-
mined to have standby tax reduc-
tion legislation on the shelf ready
for enactment when the budget
permits general tax relief.
There was no indication that to-
day's meeting dealt to any extent
with the form that the tax cut
might take.
Rep Cooper (D-Tenn), Ways
and Means Committee chairman,
said only that the committee will
begin hearings on general tax re-
vision in January after Congress
returns.
He requested that all individuals
and organizations wishing to testi-
fy notify the committee by Dec. 2.
