Democrats remember the fight
is not over until the congressional
election in November. Let us keep
fully organized and poll a big vote
for Tom Mcßae.
Glad to welcome Bro. J. R. Cot-
ton of the Monticellonian back to
the guild often a years recess. He
is one of the jolliest best follows in
the State. Our W and best wish-
es friend J. R.
Wk warn our brethren of the
press that the Park Remedy Com-
pany and Caton Medicine Company
both of Boston are irresponsible
advertisers and will not pay just
advertising bills. — [Pine Bluff

According to the vote cast for
Gen. Clarke for Governor the rep-
resentation in the next state Demo-
cratic convention will be reduced
seventy-six votes if the apportion-
ment is made on the same basis as
heretofore.
ARKANSAS LATIN.
Boyibus kissibus
Sweet girlilorum;
Girlibus likibus
Want! sumorum.
Arkansas' next Legislature will
be composed as follows politically:
Senate 31 Democrats and 1 Repub-
lican; House 90 Democats Bp. p's.
and 2 Republicans. And don’t you
forget it Berry will be re-elected
as United States Senator. Selah.
Late press rejxirts say that busi-
ness is improving everywhere. Fac-
tories that have been standing idle
for months have resumed operation
and people who are willing to work
are able to obtain it. An era of
prosperity is unquestionably dawn-
ing. and the active and energetic
will have no cause to grumble.
Gvo-ki.ect Clarke will recomend
to the coming legislature the con-
solidation of elections. He also in-
tends asking the legislature to pass
an act giving any county in the
State juisdiction over viola-
tions of the revenue laws of the
State. We hope he will also recom-
mend a constitutional convention.
Ohio Democrats are in line with
the true tents of the party as ex-
pressed in Arkansas and Alabama.
They in convention assembled
strongly advocated free silver coin-
age at the present ratio 1G to 1
and condemned Senator Brice’s un-
savory record. Also recommended
the election of U. S. Senators by
direct vote of the people. Hurah
for Ohio.
A pod of p's. An editor thus ad-
dresses his readers: "Let us have
p’s. Persons who patronize papers
should pay for the pecuniary pros-
pects of the press have peculiar
power in pushing forward public
prosperity. If the printer is paid
promptly and his pocketbook kept
plethoric by promptly paying pat-
rons he puts his gen to the paper
in peace he paints his picture of
passing events in more pleasing
colors and a persual of his paper is
a pleasure to the people. Paste
this piece of proverbial philosophy
in puinkin-ple order in some place
so all persons may see it planinly."
Till news from Cliatanooga rela
tive to the Southern railway pro-
ject is of the greatest possible im-
portance. The scheme of consolda-
tion of the various roads is support-
ed by the Rothschilds Vanderbilts
and the Morgans it involves the
insurance of ♦121X10000 in bonds
and immediate expenditure of $30•
000000 in betterments. This gi-
gantic financial undertaking implies
that the South and her possibilities
of development are now thoroughly
understood aud appreciated. The
-yndicate is the strongest in the
•vorld for it represents half a bill-
on dollars. As the project calls
for no governmental subsidy it is
the most gigantic in the history of
railroads.
DeatneM Cannot be Cured
By local applications as they can
not reach the diseased portion of
the ear. There is only one way to
cure deafness and that is by con-
stitutional remedies. Deafness is
caused by an inflamed condition of
the mucous lining of the Eustachi-
an Tube. When this tube is inflam-
ed you have a rumbling sound or
imperfect hearing and when it is
entirely closed deafness is the re-
sult; and unless the inflamation can
be taken out and this tube restored
to its normal condition hearing
will be destroyed forever. Nine
cases out of ten are caused by ca-
tarrh which is nothing but an in-
flamed condition of the mucous sur-
faces.
We will give one hundred dollars
for any case of deafness (caused by
catarrh) that cannot be cured by
Hall's Catarrh Cure. Send for cir-
culars free. F. J. Cheney & Co.
