COTTON AGAIN CROWNED.
Cotton can again be regarded In a
"regal light” and all mankind is
now bowing to it as the open se-
same to the doors of fortunes. It
is now worth B}c and the market on
a bullish tendency. From reliable
statistics we gain the following In-
formation;
The cotton crop for the season of
1894-’95 was in round numbers 10-
000000 bales worth about 125 per
bale of 500 pounds or an aggregate
of 1250000000. The crop for the
present season Is estimated at 7-
000000 bales worth at present
price about 115 per bale aggregat
lug In round figures $310000000.
Estimating the cost of plciiing gin-
ning baletng etc. at $lO per bale
the crop ot last season would net
the producers about $15(1000000
and the. present crop $245000000.
This will give a clear gain of about
$05000000 over last year ami as
the advance comes before the crop
has been fairly marketed these ad-
ditional dollars will flow into the
pockets of the producers ami plant-
ers.
The farmer should learn a lesson
from this ami hereafter plant a half
crop of cotton and then pray that
It will produce only half of what he
has planted to produce as It will
net him more than the whole crop
would should It produce a bale to
the. acre planted. Let him plant
corn and Illi his cribs full raise his
own hogs chickens ami horses. Let
him keep his corn cribs on hl* own
premises and not In Kunsae cure up
his meat hi his own smoke-house
and not in Armour’s.
The .South lias prospered this
year and at the same time has re-
ceived a good lesson one that it has
been in need of for many years.

Beware of Counterfeiters
Who infest the market aud are the
uh .i m of robbing sick people of
their money and what is of still
greater consequence of not unfre-
quently aggravating the complaints
under which they labor. It is an
act of duty we owe to society to
warn the people against these
frauds. A little care on the part of
the purchaser will protect them
from Imposition by bearing In mind
these facts: Never buy where It Ic

The contractors on the Arkansas I

graded and the laying of steel will'
begin. This road will tap the Fris-

the Nation. The Ashdown Herald
say* sf it:
Work begun last Tuesday on the
Arkansas AChoctaw railroad at this
place. The contractor* are rapidly
pushing the work on each end of
the first five miles. This much of
the road will be completed by the
first or middle of November next.
The road will leave Richmond one
mile north and will be run one mile
and a half from Rocky Comfort.
