KANSAS HEARD FROM.
There have been many things
happened in our own Legislature
as well as assemblies in other states
but Kansas “bleeding Kansas”
takes the cake. Representative Wal-
ters a Populist member introduc-
ed a bill last week providing the for
incorporation of the ten command-
ments into the laws of the state.
It is entitled “an act to give statu-
tory force to the ten command-
ments.” The bill starts out like
this:
“Whereas The men of the pres-
ent generation have become doubt-
ers and scoffers; and
“Whereas They have strayed
from the religion of their fathers;
and
“Whereas They no longer live in
the fear of God; and
“Whereas Having no fear of
punishment beyond the grave they
wantonly violate the law given to
the world from Mount Sinai;
“Therefore Be it enacted by the
legislature of the state of Kansas:"
Then follow the ten command-
ments each being a section of the
proposed law. The judiciary com-
mittee will report the bill favora-
bly.
We always thought than Kansas
was included in the commandments
when they wore handed down to us
by the Divine Law Giver but we
see now we were mistaken.
As the Kansas Legislature is
composed principally of Populists
who have hair on their teeth it Is
safe to say the ten commandments
will be made a law and even Mary
Ellen Lease will come in for “hon-
or” from her own “household" and
“love" from her “neighbors."
— i- -- ~
It amuses us to walk along the
streets and hear the men who are
grouped together talking about
the Corbett Fitzsimmons prize light.
It has come down to the point
now that every man In town knew
that “Fitz" was a better man than
Corbett and all they ever doubted
was the fear that Fitzsimmons
could not plant a blow on Corbett.
The facts In the case are that Fitz-
simmons hit Corbett over one hun-
dred times and that Corbett got
many more licks on Fitzsimmons
than this still neither was annihil-
ated knocked down once or seri-
ously hurt and had not Corbett re-
ceived the lick over the heart that
he did he would have remained on
his feet and the Cornlshman much
longer.
Off Duty.
It is essential to the well being of
the physical economy that the kid-
neys and bladder should lie eternal-
ly active that they should never go
“off duty." If they do the kidneys
fall to secrete from the blood the
watery element and the Impuiltles
that should be thrown oil by the
bladder and both organs suffer In
organic health from their Inaction
and Incur dangerous maladies.
Among these are Bright's disease
of the kidneys diabetes retention
of the urine' gravel dropsy etc.
These are no Irlllcs but obstinate
diseases developing rapidly ami ter-
minating to often fatally. To pre
vent or check them the safest and
most effectual mean* Is Ihdettcr's
