FT. LYNN FLASHES.
Health fairly good.
A line rain Saturday.
Sulphur ih falling again.
Weather line and breezy.
Two or three weeks sawing will
clean the timber out of the river
after which a tram will be run to
log the mill.
Vegetation of all kinds is In ex-
cellent condition hereabouts which
renders the tillers of the soil In a
good humor which I trust may
have cause to become chronic.
Capt. Joe Smith who has been in
the employ of the L. L Co. over
three years as a river man severed
his connection with the company
last Monday and left the same even-
ing to seek pastures new. But 10
Saturday's train brought him back.
He became home sick mil could not
resist the temptation to return for
a last shake with his many friends.
He will shake the final dust today.
We regret the gentleman's depar-
ture as he will be much missed in
our social circles.
Mrs. B. M. Grimes of Farmers-
ville Texas arrived here last Sat-
urday on a visit to her sister Mrs.
F. L. Tupper will probably remain
a fortnight. I trust the lady's in-
tercourse with our people may be
of a pleasant nature
Last Saturday Capt. Tupper and
Maj. Lambeth placed In the store a
large refrigerator constructed on
sclent ilb'.al principles by a mechan-
ic of this place who warrants that
no two things placed In It will taste
of each other except perhaps It
might be a cat and a rat who would
not feel the chilling atmosphere to
a sufficient degree to allay their
hankering for a taste especially
thecal. The same mechanic con
structed an operating table lor Dr.
Pegram I’Hiiiches by (lj feet In size
which can be taken down and fold-
ed up in to a neat compact pack-
age only (I Inches thick In ono min
utes time The whole thing will
not weigh over 3(1 pounds but when
standing In position will hold the
weight of 1000 pounds. A more
convenient and neat piece of furni-
ture will be hard to find. The rlgli*
sot patent Is for sale.
The most enjoyable social func-
tion of the season occurred at the
hospitable home of Mr. ami Mrs. I l ’.
L. Tupper last Saturday night
when a lew friends were Invited to
meet Mrs. Hrlmes Mrs. Tupper's
sister. The evening was made
pleasant by social converse wit ami
humor rounded olf with sweet mu

Mrs. (Irimes ami Miss Grace Main-

some sweet selections with gultai

WEST SIDE CITY COUNCIL.
The West Side city council met
last night for the purpose of talk-
ing over the sewer problem for the
West Side of the city.
Mayor Pro tern Estes was in the
chair with the following aidermen
present: Burke Thompson Car-
michael James Bough Graves and
Reese.
Mayor Pro tern Estes stated the
object of the meeting wai to re-
ceive and act upon the report of
the sewerage committee. Chair-
man Thompson of this committee
said it was contemplated to con-
struct the main line from the junc-
tion of the Arkansas system
through the Henry property but
up to this time Col. Henry had not
signed or given his consent for the
pipe to cross his property it was
moved by Alderman Burke and
seconded by Aiderman Carmichael
to offer Col. Henry >SO for the priv-
ilege of crossing the lots. Carried.
City Attorney Rodgers read the
specifications of the sewerage sys-
tem as prepared by City Engineer
Stewart and it was corrected in
several minor details
Dr. Burke wanted the figures
from the water works for Hushing
lint the superintendent being all
sent from the city they could not
be given
Alderman Burke moved that ad-
vertisements for blds be Inserted
for 3(1 days In order that the coun-
cil might learn what the system is
to cost. After a short discussion
the motion was carried.
Aiderman Thompson was asked to
do all in his power to get Col. Hen-
ry pacified Into allowing the sewer
to cross his property.
After this the council adjourned.
