The following paragraph relative
to the foreign business of the Gulf
road is published by the Kansas
City World:
“Yesterday the Pittsburg A Gulf
tallway contracted to carry thirty
carloads of packing house products
from Chicago to Rotterdam. It has
formed traffic relations with the
Chicago Great Western and that
road will handle the shipments be-
tween Chicago and Kansas City.
From Omaha the stuff will be han-
dled solely by the Pittsburg A Gulf.
A fleet of eight steamers has been
chartered by the Pittsburg A Gulf
to handle the new traffic and they
will ply between Port Arthur and
various European ports.
“The Pittsburg A Gulf has also
contracted to carry two trainloads
of agricultural implements from
Deering 111. to Rotterdam by the
way of Port Arthur.”
We see from a Fort Worth paper
that one hundred Dutch families
have recently located near that
city for the purpose of raising ve-
getables and berries for the Kan-
sas City market. We hope the
paper published in Fort Worth is
correctly informed about the mat-
ter but we must say we do not know
the fact to be true. We can say
however that one hundred famil-
ies could take some of the river
bottom land near this city and
raise as tine a root crop as they
do in Colorado and realize more for
it as there is not the freight bills
to pay to get their roots on the
market as they do in far off Colo-
rado. We had a gentleman here
looking for a location for a colony
but he has not purchased land yet
or has he intimated that he will
nevertheless we hope he may come
here and settle the Dutch some
where near the city.
Going South? Lots of people
going that way. Been on Salt
Water before? From Sabine Pass
free excursions are run out into the
Gulf of Mexico. By the way why
not stop off at Sabine Pass and see
the improvements making there?
Being “herded” by those in
charge of your excursion? If so
yotr cannot stop of course. These
people nearly always have some ex-
cuse for not stopping;—it’s too late
or they don’t have time. The real
reason they dont tell. It is evident
they dont want you to see for your-
self. If independent truth seekers
you will demand the right to land
where you please. The wise man
looks the field over before purchas-
ing. 1-23-3

It is not often that a physician
recommends a patent medicine;
when he does you may know that
its a good one. Dr. J. P. Cleveland
Glasgow Va. writes: “I have used
Chamberlain's Colic Cholera and
Diarrhoea Remedy in my practice
and it has proven to be an excellent
remedy where a thorough course
of medicine has failed with me. I
recommend it to my patients every
time for colic and diarrhoea.” Many
other progressive physicians recom-
mend and use this remedy because
it always cures and cures quickly.
