Prol. Gentry’s wonderful ponies
and dogs comprising his Equine
and Canine Paradox will appear
East Broad street Tuesday Novem-
ber 22—in afternoon at 3 p m.—
evening at 8:30 p. m.
Prof. Gentry himself has a tak-
ing way of talking to the animals
and contributes to the enjoyment
by giving everything an air of good
humor. He has fort adult and a
couple of baby ponies. The sixteen
drill dance and answer questions.
Romeo is the star unless Eureka
the kicking pony divides with him
the honor and Juliet is the leading
lady. There is an army of dogs.
Poodles greyhounds pups and all
kinds of fine dogs. One of the most
wonderful feates is the complete
back somersault of Barney. Three
of the dogs ride ponies at full speed
the greyhounds do more high and
distance leaping. The performance
closes with a pyramid of dogs and
horses which make an exciting pic-
ture for the youthful vision. Ad-
mission: Children 15 cents; adults
25 cents.

A OaOKGEOUS season.
To the young whose hearts are
filled with sentiment—running oyer
with laughter—Spring will always
be the favorite season. They will
find an echo of joyous life in the
buds and flowers the mantling
green of field and forest and a
quicker note in the throats of
birds.
Spring will always appeal to the
lover and she child but what of the
glory of Autumn? Go out and look
at the green turning to gold brown
and red. Verily there is a sermon
here in every leaf a parable in
eyery blade of grass. And nature
appears to be at her best.
Every hillside around Texarkana
is clothed with the prismatic hues
of the sunset and every valley lies
serene and tranquil in the gather-
ing shadows. There is a tinge of
sadness in the thrush’s song and
the silvery brook tumbles and falls
over tiny obstructions of dead
leayes in its hurry to get to the
river ere the icy hand of wintei
closes on it and locks it in.
The Robin calls from his perch in
the tall persimmon tree. With
every gentle sway the pecans come
raining down from their lofty hid-
ing places to lose themselyes among
falling leaves. Acorns ot all sizes
and shapes beat a rat-a-tat on the
ground to the accompaniment of
the grunting pigs.
Reader suppose you sit down for
awhile on some gray old stone from
which the moss has not yet been
torn by the vandal frost with the
setting sun behind you and the
shadows going on before. Listen
to the rustle of the leaves. So
must we descend some day the
rich and poor great and small
saint and sinner. As nature in her
season garners every leaf and blade
so she will one day gather us all in.
Look at the great red leaf high
up. The rays of the rising and the
setting sun has kissed it and glori-
fied it but at the last is it any bet-
ter than its weak small shriveled
brother which has lived in the
shade? Both must fade and fall
into one common grave. And the
tall grass and the little grass the
high) persimmon and the low
persimmon the pecan and
hackberry the high-bred chrys-
anthemum and the degraded
hollyberry every living thing ani-
mate and inanimate must obey the
•ame immutable and exacting law
of the great mother of us all. We
too must come to “the sere the
yellow leaf." We were as the
grass green in one sense. We
waxed strong during the long hot
days of summer but for each of us
the Autumn is coming if it be not
here. Happy indeed is the man or
woman who can sink to rest on the
bosom of nature as lightly and
calmly and peacefully as the larg-
est one of the gorgeous red leaves
of this grand Indian summer time.
Such a life will not have been lived
in yain.
