TEXARKANA ARKANSAS. THURSDAY DECEMBER 7. 1H99
THE XCUESIOK IRAIN |’
One Hundred and Twenty-Five Tex- i
arktmiane Left for Shreveport
This Morning.
I The excursion train provided tyy i
tho<e enterprising gentlemen ML j
Sam Solinsky and Mr W. A. Me- j
Cartney run from here to Shreve- ;
port pul ed out this morning with
s >.ne 125 paid passengers and a fqw ■
complimentary passengers.
It was thought by these two gen- ;
tiemen that ot least three hundred -
people cut of the 20000 population :
in our city would like to spend a :
day in Shreveport at the low celt ■
of a wheel which shows that tie !
young financiers had not felt of t ic- i
Texarkana pulse and had made' a j
haphazzard diagnose of the case j
when they agreed to take charge j
of the train and pay a stipulat- :
ed price out of their holdings ■
and take chances on getting ;
it back out of their earnings. The ;
reporter does not write this ex- .
ultantly however for he had rather '
give those gentlemen all the money j
he possesses than to see either lose I
a cent on any kind of enterprise I
they might take a notion to era- j
bark in. The facts however as we j
give above cannot be controverted j
and unless they catch a goodly i
number on the road at the stops j
they make they will have a deficit j
staring them in the face which like I
“Bancho’s Ghost” will not dpwn •
save by the pocket route.
The train as made up consisted !
of aT. S. & N. locomotive with ;
Tom O’Charitt at the throttle and
six Missouri Pacific coaches vyith
conductor Bainbridge in charge.
The city editor railroaded himself
through the coaches and from mem-
ory jotted down the following named
ladies and gentlemen ticketed for
the trip:
The Misses Munzenheimers Mis.
Scherer Mrs. Joe Ehrlich Mrs.
Dryer Miss Linguard Mrs. Webb-r
aud daughter Mary Miss Ogesby
and many other ladies whom be
did not know or whose names es-
caped his memory. Among the
gentlemen were M ssrs. Meriweth-
er Hollis Daly Henry Moore. Jr.
Lee Estes Kramer brothers Jim
Vann Joe Murphy C. Hamilton |
Kelly Spearman and many others. 1
The coach .for the colored people <
had about 15 all told.
It w.is though that at least a <
hundred more passengers would be
picked up at Boggy Ft. Lynn and :
New Camp and should this number
be added the ysung men will not be
the loser for the trip.
Our best wishes follow the train
and those aboard of the same for a
pleasant day of sight seeing.

afternoon or tomorrow.

longer.
Miller Circuit Court.
Judge Conway has not had any
weighty law problems on his hands
to deal with since he opened the ad-
journed session of the court. The
on'y cases being heard now a'e
cases of divorce principally of n .
groes who have learned or believe
marriage life a failure. The Judge
i most generally severs the ties th t
bind them knowing perhaps th t
the marital relation is not re
garded as a sacred compact. The
civil docket will be taken up after
these divorce casts are all disposed
of and the court will grind away
until the fall turu Is taken up.

to pay as we do not see how Mr
Burgess co dd get anything out of
giving our town a write-up unless
