When Spring fever hits and it’s
too early for bluebonnets, head
for the hills and come to see the
Texas redbud in full bloom!
The trail runs around four Hill
Country towns, Goldthwaite, Lam-
pasas, Hamilton and San Saba.
Beginning in late February or
early March, all across the north
central Texas region which
includes Mills, Lampasas, Hamil-
ton and San Saba Counties, the
redbud trees initiate the beauty
which is Texas in the Springtime.
Cercis canadensis [var. texensis]
is the predominant species found
in the region. When its limbs are
loaded with bright pink and
purple blossoms, it’s beginning to
look a like Spring in the Redbud
Region.
Printed above is a map of the
proposed redbud trail.
Tommy Head of Goldthwaite is
chairman of the Redbud Trail
Tourism Task Force. Map reprints
are available at the offices of the
Mills County Chamber of Com-
merce.
Personal Mentions

as her guests over the weekend
her sister, Mrs. Maggie Baker of

Thorn of Livingston.
