Board met Tuesday, November
16, 1993, in the Commissioners
Courtroom with Judge Wallace
Johnson presiding. Present at the
meeting were the following: Mayor
Richard Poss, Iva Pearl Head,
Kathy Gist, Oleta Duren, Wilma
Head, Lois Hudson, Euna Vee
Barnett, Corinne Henry, and
Yvonne Bruce.
The treasurer's report was given
by Wilma Head. Librarian Yvonne
Bruce reported that 833 books and
periodicals were circulated dur-
ing the month of October. Books
were received from Martha Gluck,
Mrs. Charles Studer, and Cleo
Rhoades. Mrs. Bruce also reported
that several groups from
Goldthwaite Elementary had vis-
ited the library; the most recent
one was eight students of ESL
Class along with teachers
Rosalinda Martinez and Lupe
Ynostrosa.

The Mullin Quilting Club met
on Wednesday, November 17,
1993 at the Mullin Community
Center with Pat Roberts as host-
ess. The group quilted on a 9-
patch design quilt that was pieced
by Mrs. Robert's grandmother
Pafford many years ago. It wasn't
finished but she will complete it
at home later.
The next meeting will be the
Christmas program. It will be at
the home of Betty Griffin. Every-
one always looks forward to visit-
ingin her beautiful country home.
I The group will have their Christ- -
mas party, reveal secret pals, and ,
elect officers for the coming year.

New Arrival ,
Allen and Kaycee Key of Sanger,
Texas, are happy to announce the
birth of their son, Derek West.
Upon arrival, Derek weighed
seven pounds, nine and three- $
fourths ounces and was 20 1/2
inches long. Derek was born at
1:50 p.m. on Friday, November
12,1993 at Denton Regional Medi-
cal Center.
Maternal grandparents are Don
and Linda Humphries of
Goldthwaite. Maternal' great
grandparents are Rhoda
Humphries and the late J.A. and '
Naverne Lock. 1.
Paternal grandparents are
Doris Key of Denton and the late

Participates In
Leadership Contest
The Mullin FFA Chapter re-
cently participated in the District
Leadership Contest in Lampasas,
Texas. They were represented by
14 students that composed the
Junior and Senior Chapter Con-
ducting teams.
The Junior Chapter Conduct-
ing team consisted of President
Robyn Calder, Vice President Joy
Blackstock, Secretary David
Contreras, Treasurer Crystal
Teague, Sentinel Josh Sullivan,
Rep. Tara Jones and Adv.
Margarita Lara. In the competi-
tion they placed fourth.
The Senior Chapter Conduct-
ing Team consisted of President
Jennifer Blackstock, Vice Presi-
dent Jennifer Ellis, Rep. Scott
Leonhard, Secretary Felisha
Smith, Treasurer Sharon Grady,
Sentinel Shanna Mazurek, and
Adv. Travis Wilson. In the compe-
tition they placed second and ad-
vanced to area competition in San
Marcos.
Also, Sharon Grady participated
in Extemporaneous Speaking
where she placed first and ad-
vanced to Area competition.
Joy Blackstock participated in
Creed Speaking and placed fifth.
These chapter members are to be
commended for their efforts.
Currently the Mullin FFA
Chapter is conducting its annual
fruit sales. Also, they are prepar-
ing their projects for the up and
coming county show by going to
several practice shows.
The Mullin Stock Show will be
held on December 18. BBQ lunch
will be served at the Show.

Mr. L. R. Hill, age 77, a resident
of Grand Prairie, Texas, died Tues-
day, November 16,1993 at Harrist |
Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth
from a heart attack. Born in
Goldthwaite, Texas, he had been "
a Grand Prairie resident since
1955 and was a former resident of ‘
Lawn, Texas and Winters, Texas, 1
where he was a farmer and |
rancher. Mr. Hill had retired in
1981 from the commercial exca-
vation business where he had op-,
erated heavy equipment. 1
Mr. Hill was a member of the
Lawn Masonic Lodge #1230 in
Lawn, Texas. He was a Church of
Christ.
Survivors are his wife, Juanita
Hill of Grand Prairie; two daugh-
ters and sons-in-law, Wilda I. and
Tom Cowley of Abilene and Gwen
and Harold Bays of Cleburne; six
grandsons; four granddaughters;*
six great grandchildren; three
brothers, Omer Hill of Winters,
Tom Hill of Wills Point, and
George Hill of Grand Prairie; and
three sisters, Jinsey Geeslin of ,
Fort Worth, Anna Lee Scott of
Winters, and Naomi Ashcroft of
Haltom City.
The funeral was at 2:00 p.m.
Thursday, November 18,1993 at
the Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral
Home Chapel in Grand Prairie.
Interment was in the Moore Me-
morial Gardens, Arlington, Texas.
