Auto accident
prevention
Nearly 8,000 adults and chil-
dren will die this year for one
reason alone -- they did not
buckle up.
In the event of a traffic crash,
the risk of dying is almost cut in
half simply by buckling up.
Half of all children who die in
crashes are completely unbelted.
Tragically, nearly half of them
would be alive today had they
been properly restrained.
Last year, 16,653 people died
in alcohol-related traffic crashes.
Nannie Tyson Christmas Wish 2001
Christmas Wish 2001 for Mills County is approaching fast. Yes in a
matter of a few weeks Christmas will be upon us. Mills County people
have for the past 20 years made helping families "something we do”.
All types of people, young and old benefit from this community effort.
Again this year we have the opportunity to work together and make
Christmas a little brighter for others, however it will be done a little
different this year.
This year the parents are asked to come to the Civic Center from 1pm
til 8 pm on Dec 21st, This year parents will have the opportunity to pick
up the gifts for their children and their box of food. Parents can then take
the gifts home and wrap them and put them under the tree for Christmas.
We are also asking that individuals who buy for these children, not to
wrap these gifts. We want the parents to participate in this process as
much as possible. 6. .y - qissed bon Regli : b^rA ve
The Mills County Ministerial Association, along with other organizations,
and individuals are looking forward to sharing the Christmas spirit in our
community. As in the past we will be focusing on the elderly and families
with children under 15 years old.
Our Christmas Wish Trees will be in several area banks, businesses, and in
some Churches. The forms for assistances need to be turned in to First
Baptist Church, Goldthwaite by Wednesday Nov. 28 by 12 noon. We will
then make the ornaments that are placed on the trees. Our Trees will be
put up in various locations throughout the county. We will collect the
presents on Dec. 20th.
If you would like to help in this rewarding endeavor please call me @
648-3369.
Thanks again Mills County for thinking of others.
Butch Foster
