approximately two weeks af-
ter its start date and would
have been except for the de-
lay with a supplier in getting
the right quality of hot mix.
Project manager, Lonnie
Ragsdale, P.E., explains:
“Anytime a project goes
through a town, it is inconve-
nient for everyone so we try
to finish the work as soon as
possible. We didn’t anticipate
the difficulty we ran into with
the hot mix design. Hopefully,
the problem is corrected and
we can complete this job very
4 soon. We really appreciate the
* patience of the citizens of
Goldthwaite and Mills
County.”
Milling and resurfacing was
% determined to be the best long
term solution to the pavement
problems on US 183. The
milling process grinds the top
layer of the pavement off and
leaves the roadway rough and
grooved so the new material
will adhere better. Immedi-
ately after the milling proce-
dure, there was some confu-
sion about the project being
complete when temporary
striping was applied to the still
unfinished roadway.
“We hope the misunder-
standing is cleared up. For the
safety of the traveling public,
tabs that are applied in a work
zone to differentiate the trav-
eling lanes are allowed for 14
days only. TxDOT is required
- to replace the tabs with tem-
porary striping at that time,”
Ragsdale said. “The roadway
is not complete but when it is,
we will apply a new, more du-
rable striping to the final sur-
face,” he explained.

A sweep around right end and the hard running
by Moseley picked up 21 yards, and from there
Clifton took it over left tackle for the TD. Trouble
was, the Eagles were flagged for holding, but on
the next play, Clifton took a pitch from Justin
Stegemoller around left end for the touchdown. A
quarterback sneak over left guard was stopped
short and the score was 12-0 with 3:41 to go in
the first.
Johnson City picked up a couple of first downs
following Schmidt’s kickoff, aided by a couple of
quarterback scrambles. A holding penalty was fol-
lowed by Landon Schwartz recovering a JC
fumble to give the ball back to the Eagles offense.
The play also featured a loss of 13 yards as the
QB retreated.
A beautifully executed post pattern was com-
pleted when Stegemoller hit a wide open Chase

Johnson City was three and out again after fine
defensive play by Cody Hubanks, Miller and Tim
Mello, and punted. Another short kick ensued and
the Eagles started at the JC 35 yard line.
Clifton picked up 16 yards as he got the handoff
after going in motion. Moseley turned in a key
block on the play. A long pass was tried to Sides
but sailed a little deep. Schwartz was downfield
quickly and provided the block to spring Clifton
_ in what ended up to be a 40 yard gain, down to the
D JC four yard line. From there, Schmidt hit over
right guard for the Eagles fourth TD. His kick was
also good and it was 27-0 with 9:09 to go in the
half.
Johnson City put together its best drive of the
B game on the next possession. A couple of good
runs and another quarterback scramble moved the
B ball to the Eagles 32 yard line. Stegemoller seemed
N to have good position and went up for an inter-
7 ception in the left side of the end zone on the next
B play, but his timing was just a little off on the jump
S and the ball settled into the arms of the JC receiver.
The score and a good PAT made it 27-7 with 6:45
M to go in the half.
Taylor Watson provided a great block to give
" Clifton an opportunity to run all the way to the JC
