Citizen group, Miertschin hail delay in Hwy. 46 loop plans a victory

Residents living in the path of the pro-
posed Boerne “Relief Route” are relieved
themselves after the Texas Department of
Transportation (TxDOT) pulled the plug
on plans to extend Hwy. 46 - for now.
David Casteel, San Antonio District en-
gineer with TxDOT, sent a letter dated
Oct. 20 to Kendall County Judge Eddie
Vogt and Boerne Mayor Patrick Heath,
notifying the county and city that
TxDOT has removed its “consultants and
staff to work on other needed projects in
other communities.”

Early voter turnout heavy for Nov. 8
Constitutional Amendment election
BY KURT MOGONYE
Staff Writer
Voter traffic at the Kendall
County Courthouse has been
heavier than normal in this first
week of early voting, according
to Kendall County Clerk Dar-
lene Herrin, especially in an off-
year election when amendments
to the state constitution are the
only questions on the ballot.
Voters have until Friday, Nov.
4, at 6 p.m. to cast their ballots
before Election Day Tuesday,
Nov. 8.
As of noon Thursday, 373 had
voted in person. Early polls are
open for early voting from 8
a.m. to 6 p.m. in Room 124 at
the courthouse, 201 E. San An-
tonio St..
Any qualified Kendall County
voter may vote either during the
early voting period or on Elec-
tion Day, but must have their
voter registration card with them
or show valid identification be-
fore being permitted to vote.
Nine propositions to amend
the Texas Constitution are be-
fore voters, with Proposition 2
being a driving force behind
many voters going to the polls.
Proposition 2 defines marriage
as a union between a man and
woman only,
Herrin said because a low
voter turnout is expected, voting
precincts are being combined on
Election Day. Polls will open
