please Him.
Would God send such disas-
ters upon mankind, even though
He definitely has the power to
do so?
Let’s look into the book of
Job for part of the answer.
On one occasion, God allowed
Satan the devil to bring a num-
ber of disasters on Job. But
God also SET A LIMIT on what
the devil could do to Job.
But there was a REASON
for God allowing Satan to bring
calamities on Job. Beginning in
chapter 38, we read that it was
to teach Job a needed lesson
for his own good. And later
Job was blessed with twice as
much as he was before the
destructions.
The Bible depicts God as a
God of LOVE, compassion,
long - suffering. However, on
occasions this God does allow
certain punishments to befall a
person. But for one reason,
and that is to CORRECT some-
one when he is doing wrong
— not because of vengeance
from God.
Then why the increase in na-
tural calamities? Partly it’s
because man is UPSETTING
the weather patterns — by fill-
ing the air with pollutants, ruin-
ing the water supplies, exploit-
ing the land and breaking up
the ecological life - cycle of
the soil. Nature’s BALANCE
is being upset — so what are

the natural results? The Giddings, Texas, Time. & News - Thursday, September 10,
For nearly 6,000 years now
God has allowed man to pretty
well control the world as he
pleases. Only on rare occa-
sions has God directly inter-
vened in world events, thus al-
lowing man to learn a lesson
that should have been learned
thousands of years ago — that
man is incapable of ruling over
himself. That people need an
all - knowing, all - powerful
God over us to bring peace
and happiness to this sick world.
And it’s going to come. Not
because man is finally WILLING
to accept God as creator and
ruler of the world and universe,
but because the world is reach-
ing a world - wide crisis which
very soon will DESTROY every-
thing unless some power steps
in and stops it.
Don't tool yourself. Man
isn’t becoming so technically
advanced and educated that he
is coming any closer to solv-
ing his problems now than he
did 6,000 years ago. In fact,
modern science has brought
about the very things which
could bring about the destruc-
tion of the world — pollution
and nuclear weapons.
Our ONLY HOPE is in the
Eternal God. Turn to Him.
Study His instruction book for
living an ABUNDANT LIFE.
Communicate with Him through
prayer and meditation. But most
important, FOLLOW HIM by
living under His RULES now
so that when Christ returns you
can live under Him forever.

Church Attendance
Crusade Launched
At Immanuel Lutheran
Immanuel Lutheran Church
of Giddings has announced a
Church Attendance Crusade for
the month of September. For
this past Sunday, the 1st Sun-
day in September, the total
attendance for both the 8:15
a.m. English Service and the
10:45 a.m. German Service
came to a total of almost 1,000.
The Rev. Emil F. Krugler,
pastor of the congregation, stat-
ed: “The attendance this past
Sunday was most inspiring. We
would encourage everyone to
attend the church of his choice
every Sunday — but to attend.
The important Bible passages
to remember are: “Thou shalt
worship the Lord, thy God.’
and ‘Blessed are they that hear
the Word of God and keep it.’
Make church attendance a reg-
ular habit.”
'With church attendance on
the decline across our nation
and crime, dope and alcohol
addiction, and communism on
the increase, it is about time
for the church and the Chris-
tians to take whatever steps
may be necessary to turn the
tide back to what it should
be,” said Pastor Krugler.
