BAKBARA BENTLE
Mr. and Mrs. John C. Bentle,
1705 N. Clay, have anounced the
engagemet and approaching
marriage of their daughter,
Barbara ,to Rodney Ruffin, son
of Mr. and Mrs. T. T. Ruffin of
BILLY HARBER 12 YEAR OLD SON of Mr. and Mrs. Travis
Harber, has competed in only five play days and he’s won
two first place trophies, two second, one fourth, two fifths
and one sixth place. In the Ennis Riding Club’s October Play
Day, he won a first, a second and a fourth place trophy. His
first time to ride his horse in a Play Day was June 20. His
dad, local Merchant, traded a gun for the horse as Billy had
outgrown his Shetland pony, Snowball. His new horse “Skip-
per” is part mustang and part Apoulssa, and is real tough
and runs real fast. Jimmie Gibson, a member of the Riding
Club before going into the service, taught Billy much about
riding as his parents do not ride, but take him, along with his
sister, Judy to the Play Days. Mr. Gibson took him to his
first Play Day where he won a trophy in a calf scramble. His
first horse. Snowball, his Dad bought him about 3 years ago,
really taught Billy how to ride, but Jimmie Gibson and the
members of the Riding Club have all helped him greatly
and he often rides—his swift horse in competition with the
men. Billy won a first place and a sixth place in Open Key
Hole race in competition with men; a first and second place
in Straight Away Barrels, second place in a potato race,
fourth place in a clover leaf race, fifth place in a Flag Race
three times and fifth place in Pole Bending competition.
