Mike Brown, senior architec-
tural student at Texas Techno-
logical college, Lubbock, who
has been taking some summer
courses there, has arrived home

Mrs. H. D. Witcher, received the
first prize in the Sears Gilt con-
test Tuesday. He is a member
of Windom 4-H club.
Tobe Chaney, expert at hog
raising, judged the gilts Tues-
day at the Co-Op gin.
“This is very difficult to de-
cide,” he said, “and I would
say that first and second places
are very, very close."
Jerry Graham of Telephone 4-
H received second place. Both
first and second place hogs were
litter mates.
Other prizes went to Jerry
Magness of Telephone 4-H,
fourth to Mike Horton of Lan-
nius 4-H and fifth place to
Ronald Crow of Gober 4-H. All
winners will receive prize mon-
ey from the Sears Foundation.
Randy Gideon of the 4-H club-
at-large received a check from
James Sudderth, agricultural
chairman for the Kiwanis serv-
ice club. Gideon had raised the
Kiwanis gilt.
Mrs. Clara Newell, manager
of Sears in Bonham, presented
the prize ribbons to the winners.
After presentations, Chaney
told the gilt winners that “one
thing you boys have to do to
get on top in any livestock pro-
gram is to take care of them
and feed them properly.
“I want all of you to know
that all of these gilts were
worthy of a first prize and the
choice between first and second
was quite difficult,” Chaney
said.
County Agent Wayne Cranfill
was also present and expressed
his appreciation to the boys
who raised the gilts.

SOLID COMFORT!
As it has for many weeks throughout Texas . .. the temperature
was probably soaring up near or over the 100-degree mark outside.
Maybe this fellow had to work outside. But, he’s now enjoying
restful sleep ... solid comfort... thanks to his electric air con-
ditioning. . r
When the weather is extremely hot, air conditioners must work
extra-hard to remove heat and provide cool comfort. TP&L must
operate more generating plants and increase the size of lines,
transformers and other facilities to keep pace with the increasing
demand for electricity.
All of this costs money. But, for all of the solid comfort it buys,
it’s still the biggest bargain in town.
