Thanks for caring
about Ginger
This letter is to let the community know
how much we appreciate their support and
sympathy while we searched for our lost
dog.
We moved here last December and live
near Sageglen north of Scarsdale. Last
Wednesday our little dog of 13 years was
scared by a storm and somehow escaped
the safety of our backyard. The family is
very attached to her and was upset at the
thought of her alone in the cold cruel world.
Signs were posted throughout the area.
The next day a nice lady named Candy who
lives south of Scarsdale found Ginger and
Galled our -vet. Unfortunately Ginger
escaped Candy’s backyard that night.
A half day from work was taken to look
for her going door to doorshowing her pic-
ture and giving out our phone number.
Everyone seemed concerned and would
keep an eye out for her. The search con-
tinued until night fell. We would do
anything to find Ginger.
Early the next morning the phone rang.
A sweet young, lady named Tory found
Ginger around 4 a.m. on the Gulf Freeway
north of Almeda Mall! headed south. Fear-
ing she might get hurt, Tory rescued her
and took her home. Tory called the vet and
got our number.
Ginger was exhausted, covered with
fleas,, her paws cut and sore from walking
on the’pavement. Otherwise she was fine. :
Ginger must have had a guardian angel with |
her.
Thanks again to all the wonderful peo- ’
ple for their concern and willingness to look
out for our pet.

ly one left—on Sageglen.
Thanks so much.

Longhorn history
being sought
I need help from anyone who has
knowledge of the past athletic accom-
plishments of J.F. Dobie High School
1968-97). A -history of Dobie High School
is being prepared and information on boys
and girls teams that were district champions
in all sports. Also needed is information on
individual accomplishments—any boy or
girl who was selected to all-state in high
school or all-conference at the college level
or played professionally.
Anyone having information should con-
tact Stan Labay at 281-481-3000, ext. 255,
or mail the information to: Stan Labay,
11111 Beamer Road, Houston, TX 77089.

Agreeing with
Brett Patterson
We highly agree with Brett Patterson’s
Letter of Apology to the under-10 soft-
ballers in last week’s Leader. The girls do
work and play hard through the entire
season with the hope of making the all-star
team. It is completely unethical to put a girl
from another league on a league team
without first inviting girls from their own
league. The girls may as well be told that
despite their commitment to play hard, they
.may be completely ignored for all-stars
because someone from another league
wins." The girls “earn” the right to be
considered for an all-star player in their
own league and should be given that con-
sideration.
(The above is from a “parents” view-
point only.)
Looking cool
C.D. Washington, who is 104 years old, is making a habit of ap-
pearing in the annual July 4 parade. Popping up from an old-time
stretch limo, he appears undaunted by the day’s heat.

old C.D. Washington meet with Councilman Rob Todd on July 4.
Constable‘s surrey
Constable Gary Freeman and his wife Mary ride a sur-
rey in the July 4 parade. Back-seat passengers are
Caleb Stillwell, Haley Stillwell, Brittney Shepp and
Amber Shepp.
