Dear Sister,
You ask me to write you sometimes. Well, to show you how much your letter was appreciated I'm going to answer by return mail. I just got your letter + have just finished reading it + now am answering it. If I'd know[sic] your address I'd have written sooner if you haven't been so good about writting[sic]. Oh well I know how things are so I won't hold that against you. I'm not so prompt myself.
Sis, I got a full report on that coat you gave my daughter + it must really be nice. From the two + a half page description Johnnie gave I know all about it. I do know this it really pleases Johnnie. From what I get it must ad up to everything a well dressed lady should wear.
Sis, the birthday gift was grand + I might add a little expensive for me. I'm saving it until I go some place. In other words. It is very good shaving lotion but when using it on the ship all the guys follow me around.
Say, that boy friend of yours really hit

[pg 2] something if he enlisted for 3 years. At any rate, sis, let him finish that three years as you plan now. Don't make the mistake of marrying him before then. He may decide to stay longer in the Army + if so all right. The Army pays will[sic] after you get rated but let him have the chance to decide. In other words if you married him before then he might be tied in the Army regardless of his wants. A military outfit scares a guy anyway. He is actually afraid of the outside [illegible] he really wants out.
Honey, you must be slipping to sport a car like that. You can be[sic] your last dollar that I'd really like to feel that wheel. To be honest I'd be very happy if I could just ride in any car other than a taxi for a change.
I know what you mean by Mr. Hilliard not writting[sic] or anything. I know him pretty well + if you ask me he isn't worth it. Really, sis, I feel sorry for Billie. Not so much now but if she should ever have to go back to him. I'm hoping we can get along well enough that she'll never have to. Honey, thank you so much for being so thoughtful + giving a helping hand. I appreciate + I know Johnnie does."
