Chernosky were happily married
by Rev. E. E. Schmidt Thursday,
a good sized crowd being in at
tenciance at the wedding. After
the cermony was over and con-
gratulations were said, the wed-
ding guests were served to a
magnificent wedding feast by
Mrs. Duewall. They spent the
afternoon in conversation and
other forms of amusement. It
was a very nice home wedding at

Little Girl Burned

The rive year old daughter of
August Skopek and wife living
near Deanville was so badly burn-
ed late Saturday evening that
she died Sunday evening She
was out in the yard playing and
in some manner her clothing
¡took tire. She screamed and
I her father ran to her and ex
languished the flames, but she
was fatally burned. Mr. Skopek
had his hands badly burned in
trying to save his little daughter

Thursday night Matthew
Krall died at his home near Hogg
at the ane of 77 years and the fu-
neral was preached by Father
Joseph Kunc in the Catholic
church at Dimebox Saturday
morning and the remains were
laid to rest i n the cemetery
there. Deceased came from the
old country and settled first in
Washington county, but many
years ago came to Burleson
county and settled where he
died, He leaves several sons
and daughters. A good and
useful man has gone to his re-
ward.

urreat pleasure that J. C Jones
has been appointed Commission-
er of Pensions by Governor elect
Ferguson. M r. Jones is eminent-
ly quallified for this position, he
having always been an enthusi-
ast for the welfare of Vetrans of
the Confederate army. The ap-
pointment is well made, and is
very gratifying to the people of
this county. So far as we know
♦his is the tirst time in the his-
tory of Burleson county, that one
of its citizens has been honored
by an appointment to a position
in the governor's official family of
Texas. Burleson county appre-
ciates the honor confered on
one of its most worthy citizens.

Mrs. John P- Neweomb has j
returned from the sanitarium at I
Temple where she had perform-
ed an operation for appendicitis.
The operation was entirely sue-
cesssful and she will soon be in
her accustomed health.
Rev. R. F. Stokes returned to
San Antonio Sunday after visit-
ing relatives here.
Mrs. F. J. Wotipka left Sun-
day to visit relatives in Snyder.
Sunday morning J. A. Bowers
and son and Otto Wendorf ship-
ped 3 cars of range cattle to the
fattening pens of S. K. Lewis at
Valley Mills.
\V. C. Allen and family return-
ed to Hearne Friday from visit-
ing the family of C. B. Oliver.
The programs for the White
Teachers Institute of Burleson
county, which will convene at
the High School in Caldwell on
Monday, December 14-1s, 1914,
have been mailed out this week
to teachers and trustees over
the county by Superintendent
Thos. Schoppe, and he earnestly
requests all trustees and teach-
ers, as well as patrons of the
schools, to attend the Institute
if possible. The program would
have been published in the pa-
per this week, but on account of
its length we were compelled to
omit it. The colored institute
will be held later.
