It was learned this morning that
two Americans acting as agents ol
j the revolutionists are in San Anto-
; nio recruiting men and their prefer-
' ence is for soldiers who served during
; the Spanish American war. The pcnxl
1 of service is for three years unless
sooner discharged and additional of-
i fers are made for those who enlist of
: a good civil position In Guatemala
I should the revolutionists succeed in
’ overthrowing the government
A man who claimed to be a book-
keeper at a local meat market called
on the United States secret service
officer here today and asked if he
would be allowed to join the Guate-
i malan revolutionary forces or If lie
would be restrained from leaving the
- country. He said he was a veteran
I of the Spanish war and that several
i soldiers from San Antonio who had
served In the same war had joined
; th- Guatemalan Insid-gent army and
I left here for Guatemala going by way
। of Tampico.
The man was told by the United
States acetu that he would not be al-
' lowed to leave this country armed or
with a bodv of men. but that he could
leave as a private citizen and go
where he pleased
A prominent member of the local
camp of Spanish War Veterans when
questioned this morning about agents
being here at work recruiting men for
insurgents said:
"I was approached by a man at
Electric p$rk last Sunday afternoon
who gave his name as George Burk-
left and who said he was from Phila-
delphia. He said the object" of ‘ils
visit to San Antonio at this time was
to secure good men to serve as <>ffi
cers in the revolutionary forces of
Guatemala He offered $150 pet-
month for an enli-tinent of three
years The class of men he was af
ter were men who hail served in the
Snanlsh war and who had experience
if accepted the applicant would have
his transportation raid.
"I have heard that several of the
boys enlisted for services but as far
as I can learn no members of the
Luther R Hare camp is among those
who joined."
The report that two agents are
here enlisting men has put the frdetal
authorities on their guard and the se-
cret service officer is now watching
theft movements closely. In case he
should be called on to act In the mat-
ter.

high wind this morning which preceeu-

was done.
Lightning destroyed the feed ware-
house of J. E. Mugge at the corner ot
Live Oak and Burnett streets.
According to official railroad reports
the wind also played navoc at several
points In this section.
The Aransas Pass reports 35 tele-
graph poles blown down between Bee-
ville anti the coast and no wires are
working into San Antonio between
those points.
The Gulf Shore in Its report states
that several houses were unroofed at

Kansas City. Mo.. June 12.—Armour
and company. Swift and company. Cu-
dahv and company and Nelson. Morris
Packing company were found guilty in
the United States district court here
today ot accepting concessions from
the Chicago. Burlington and Qutncy
railroad on export shipments on pack-
ing house products.
The case was given to the jury at
10:40 and a verdict returned at 11:40.
Judge Smith McPherson of Red Oak
Iowa the presiding judge stated that
the sentence would not be assessed
uulil the case against the Burlington
railway which is charged with grant-
ing concessions to the packers. Is con
chided. The (Burlington's trial <t£
begin this afternoon.
The law in the present case provide
for a fine on!) ami not for a jail we»
tence.

Chaplain Dickson has induced this

Captain Henry M. Diehman. Twen-
ty-sixth Infantry has been appointed
commissary of the regiment to take
effect yesterday.
