The Collin County AIDS Network
is a fledgling organization dedicated
to meet the needs of AIDS victims
and their families through a “net-

The next public meeting of the
AIDS Network will be held at 1 p.m.
Thursday at the First Baptist
Church of Plano, 1300 E. 15th St.,

ACO accepting nominations
for board of directors
Nominations are now being
accepted for individuals wishing to
fill one of three current vacancies on
the board of directors for Allen Com-
munity Outreach.
Another board seat will be avail-
able in January of 1992 and nomina-
tions will be received for this posi-
tion as well.
According to executive director
Stacy Brown, the Allen Community
Outreach Board of Directors has 12
members responsible for setting
meaningful goals, achieving efficien-
cy of operation and high standards of
service for the community.
Board meetings are held six times
yearly, with committee meetings in-
terspersed. Members are expected
to attend meetings, take part in fun-
draising activities, and be advocates
for the organization.
“Board members are responsible
for the goals, policy and conduct of
the agency,” Brown commented.
For additional information, call
Brown at 727-9131.

Garage sale Saturday
will be ACO’s final
major fund-raiser
Allen Community Outreach is
holding a community garage sale on
Saturday, July 13, in the Wal-Mart
parking lot in Allen.
This event is the last major fund-
raiser for 1991, with proceeds to be
used to reach the organization’s
community fund drive goal. To attain
this, $3,200 must be raised.
“Some people are not aware that
as a United Way funded agency we
cannot actively fundraise during the
last six months of the year,” Allen
Community Outreach executive
director Stacy Brown said recently.
Anyone wishing to donate items
or work a volunteer shift during the
garage sale should call 727-9131.
Donated items may be dropped off
from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday
through Friday at the Allen Com-
munity Outreach office at 103 W.
