High School Royalty
Named For Homecoming
Groom High School
will crown the new
Homecoming King and
Queen in a ceremony for
for, royalty tonight at 8
p.m. in the auditorium.
The event will be
followed by the bonfire.
Candidates for King
are Cody Babcock, Brett
Britten, Doug Fields,
Lance Ollinger and
Calvin Shaffer.
Candidates for Queen are
Jessica Bates, Brin
Burgin, Lauren Crowell,
Amanda Conrad and
Malorie Homen. Ushers
are Laurissa Noack,
Caren Howard, Kelby
Noack and Chance
Barkley. Crown Bearer
is Trenton Fields and
Flower Girl is Brooklyn
Kerlee.
The week of activities
for GHS students began
org Monday. Students
wore a certain color to
signify their class. A
volleyball game was held
Monday evening, despite
chilly temperatures. All
the students had a terrific
time.
On Tuesday, students
celebrated inside-out day.
Many wore their clothes
inside out.
Wednesday students
signed each other’s T-
shirts and wore hats and
shades. The Little Kids
Pep Rally was also held.
Today is "Nerd Day"
at GHS. The Junior
High Pep Rally will be
held at 3:00 as the Cubs
prepare to play
Samnorwood, there at 5
p.m. The coronation is
scheduled for 8 p.m. in
the auditorium. The
Bonfire will follow on
the practice field.
On Friday, the whole
town is asked to show
their spirit by wearing
Red and Black. The
downtown pep rally is
set for 3 p.m.

For 1st Quarter
The State Comptroller,
Carole Keeton Rylander,
recently announced that
Carson County has seen
a 24.6% drop in sales
tax revenues since 1st
quarter reports between
2001-2002. Gross sales
in Carson County in the
1st quarter of 2002 were
$9,455,047 while the 1st
quarter of 2002 reported
$7,124,642. Tyler Babcock uses an impromptu megaphone to yell
