Laurissa Lyn Noack
Valedictorian
"Never assume. Never assume
the best, but never assume the
worst. Just take it as it comes."
Laurissa Noack, Valedictorian,
2003

With a plan to attend Texas A & M University at
Galveston to study Marine Biology and Bio-medicine, this
year’s Valedictorian is looking at a bright future. Laurissa
Lyn Noack is the daughter of Kevin and Susan Noack. She
is a member of the First Baptist Church.
Laurissa has attended school in Olton, Muleshoe,
Brownfield and Grandfalls-Royalty before coming to
Groom in 1999. She will be receivinga $250 Lion’s Club
Scholarship and a Thrivent Financial Scholarship in the
amount of $4,000.
“My mother has had the greatest influence on my
life,” stated Laurissa. “She has worked so hard to get me
where I am today. She has always supported me and my
actions, yet she always lets me know what consequences
could result. I have never admired anyone more than she
who was so brave as a single mother with two small
children. She fought and worked hard to provide for us.
I am truly grateful. My dad is the most courageous person
I know. He took a chance on a woman with two children.
For that, he will always be my hero.”

Jill Ann Britten is the Groom ISD Class of 2003
Salutatorian. She is the daughter of Clifton and Susan
Britten and a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Catholic Church. Her future plans are to attend Texas A &
M University and pursue a degree in Architecture.
It is fitting that “If you can be anything or anyone in
this world, be yourself,” is her motto.
“This is a motto I have come to know and live by,” she
said. “In a world where one can easily be deceived, it is
important to know who and what you are. If you know this,
then everything else will eventually fall into place. Life’s
too short to worry about what other people think of you.
Always stand for what you believe in and know who you
are and people will learn to accept you for you.”
Jill has many accomplishments in which to be proud of
during her years at Groom ISD. She played 3 years of
basketball, serving the team as a guard. She was named to
/ the Academic All-State list. She competed in track for 2
7 years, racing in the 1600-meter run and the 3200- meter
y run, qualifying for Area in both. She played tennis 1 year.
9 Jill competed in Cross Country for 4 years and was a
9 Regional Qualifier for 3 years.
