It was an unconventional Memorial Day for the
Hart family as a Ford F-150 pickup plowed into a
corner of their home early Monday morning.
The vehicle was traveling east on San Jacinto,
when the driver, allegedly reaching for a cell phone,
lost control of his truck and collided into the southeast
corner of the Hart residence on 1519 San Jacinto.
The young white male driver fled the scene only
to return later in the day with his grandmother. The
driver admitted' to the accident and advised the own-
ers he would'be responsible for damages. He provided
his Texas Liability Card to the Hart family.
Castroville police were contacted, but Charles Hart,
owner, does not intend to file charges against the
man. Hart said an insurance claim is already in
progress.
Hart, father of two, said, he doesn’t feel less safe
in his home.
“It made for a very interesting day yesterday and
I’m glad it’s over. It wasn’t what I expect for Memorial
Day,” he said.
