Thirty Years oí
Suffering Banished
"Por the pant thirty yen , my
father has suffered from constipation,
indigestion and gas formations, but
now, thanks to Argotane, he is once
more enjoying good health." The
foregoing statement was made to a
representative of the Argotune Com-
pany by Mis . Blanch Sullivan of
Route 8, Box 18, Austin, Texas.
"He also suffered from an inactive
liver and a general run-down condi-
tion," continued Mifts Sullivan* "and
he had to be very careful of what he
ate, because he was invariable
troubled With indigestion and gas
formations after eating. Constipation
also bothered him and, because of his
aire, we feared that one of these at-
tack would prove the last. His liver
was sluggish and inactive, which did
not help him any.
"But he has improved wonderfully
since he started the Argotane treat-
ment. He can now eat anything with-
out a trace of indigestion ot gas. His
liver apparently is in good order, for
he has a good appetite and his health
seems to l>e a hundred per cent bet-
ter.
"We recommend Argotane because
of the great relief it has brought
father. I think it is a wonderful
medicine and deserving of praise from
anyone who has taken it. We are
Kind to recommend it to anyone suf
fering from stomach trouble."
(ienuine Argotane may be bought

Mathers Are Back
From Trip Abroad
Mesdames John Houston and Prod
Deutsch, two Gold Star War Mothers
from this city who sailed five or six
weeks ago for Prance to visit the
European battle ground of the late
World War, principally the gravea of
their two sons, who paid the supreme
sacrifice while in service for their
country, returned home Tueaday
morning. They landed in New York
the past week and arrived here this
week.
On the trip over they sailed , on the
passenger boat, "George Washington,"
one of the largest in service. They
made the trip in seven days. Return-
ing, they boarded the "Republic," a
smaller ship. Nine days were con-
sumed crossing the Atlantic. The
shores of England and Ireland were
touched both on the way over and re-
turning.
They reported a wonderful trip,
though one of very much sorrow and
sudness. Both stood the voyage first-
class in every way.

The Thursday Night Club enjoyed a
very pleasant evening at Lake Wood-
row the past Thursday when Mr. and
Mrs. H. P. Cobb entertained with a
chicken barbecue and other refresh-
ments served bountifully.
Tin- screened club house porch on
which three or four bright lights were
strung over head here and there, to-
gether with the long table, benches
J and chairs, provided very inviting and
comfortable equipment.
Following the sumptuous repast an
¡hour or two were pleasantly spent in
sociable conversation Mr. and Mrs.

of the evening.

Methodist Ladies
Hold Meeting
Mesdames W. L. Surovik, W. G.
Clark and J. W. Schiller were
hostesses to the Woman's Missionary
Society in a social meeting at the
Methodist church Monday afternoon,
August 18. The refreshment course
was both dainty und delicious and to
add that this was graciously served is
only to repeat the names of those in
charge of the entertainment hour.
Names of the W. M. S. ladies were
distributed in conundrum contest, so
whether present or absent each mem-
ber of the society was represented in
thought. Those who do not wish their
names thus "taken in vain" should
grace the next meeting with their
presence.
Mesdames McDonald, Smith, Stone,
Hitchcock and Morgan presented the
afternoon lesson, Mrs. F. L, Wood-
ward leading. Miss Bettie Scott gave
the scripture on "Reality in Worship.
¡Miss Edna Sprinkle reed a poem, "If
'You Have a Friend Worth Loving,"
and Miss Mildred Mills favored the
program with a piano solo.
To the Voters of
Burleson County
My heart goes out in eternal
gratitude to my friends throughout
the county, who by their support
made possible my apparent success.
I sincerely hope that only the
pleasant things of the campaign may
be remembered by my friends, as well
as those who supported Mr. Surovik.
I shall exert myself to the utmost,
and try constantly to prove my
gratitude and worthiness to the peo-
ple of Burleson county.
I shall, as soon as possible, visit
the various communities in the county,
and thank the people in person for
the opportunity to realize a great
ambition of my life.
Thanking you again, I am,
Yours for better schools in Burleson
County,

Irrigated Cotton
Damaged By Pests
ELECTRA, Texas, Aug..88 (UP).
—Both boll worm and itu* worm are
causing damáge to cotton in the
Wichita Valley irrigated district
southeast of Electra, according to re-
ports from farmers'who were in town
this week. Hot winds had already cut
short a bumper crop expected in the
section where plentiful supply of
water for irrigation is available and
the insect pests are making still fur-
ther inroads into the fields which a
month ago were said to have promised
more than a half a bale to the acre.
Mournful Dove Row
Ended By New Laws
AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 28 (UP).—
Conflicts between state and federal
hunting regulations that perplexed
mourning dove hunters last season
and caused many objections, exist no
longer.
All conflicts have been harmonized
and the entire state now has but two
zones. Open season in the north zone
is in September and October. Open
season in the south zone is October
and November.
