Shahan oí Lipscomb
appointed last week to
mi the unexpired term of
Lipscomb County Clerk P. O.
Boyd, who died April 15.
Shahan will serve until af-
ter the general election, when
a successor will be named for
a four-year term.
Basil Duke Jr. and Fay
Schoenhals are both candi-
dates for the office in the
Democratic primary. Boyd was
not seeking re-election,
Since there are two candi-
dates in the field for election
to the clerk's office, the Lips-
comb County Commissioners
Court decided last week to
appoint a man who was not
seeking the office for the un-
expired term. Shahan was for-
merly tax assessor and col-
lector for Lipscomb county,
and after that office was com-
bined with the Sheriff's office,
served several terms in that
capacity.
