BAR MITZVAH
Lee Allen
Lee Allen, son ofMona and Artie
Allen of Dallas, will be called to the
Torah as a bar mitzvah, Saturday,
Oct. 24, at the 9:30 a.m. service at
Beit Aryeh (Shearith Israel North
Satellite). Rabbis David Glickman
and William Gershon will offici-
ate.
An eighth-grader at Parkhill
School, Lee is the brother of Elie,
Adrian and Nace, and the grand-
son of Bella and Joe Klein of Cleve-
land, Ohio, and Sharon and Mitch-
ell Allen of Montgomery, Ala. His
proud great-grandmother is Enid
Feldman,
For his mitzvah project, Lee
hosted a "Party with a Purpose"
twice over the summer to raise
money for two charities: Mazon,
a Jewish Response to Hunger and
Ohel Ari, which sends care pack-
ages to Israeli soldiers. Party with a
Purpose involved teaming up with a
bowling alley and a sports complex
to receive a large group discount
but still charging the same price;
that way, the money saved actually
went to tzedakah. Most of the time
Lee forgot that it was a mitzvah
project, since he had so much fun
doing it! Close to $500 was raised
for both charities. Ohel Ari is of
special meaning to Lee. It was cre-
ated by his cousins, Rabbi Stewart
and Susie Weiss, in loving memory
of their son Ari, who fell while de-
fending the state of Israel. Lee never
had the privilege of meeting Ari but
knows stories of his life and legacy.
He is grateful to the many friends
and strangers that supported his
Parties with a Purpose.
