SENIORS
TEXAS JEWISH POST & SINCE 1947

S"
A lot has changed over the past 57 years. We've gone from phonographs to
iPods, typewriters to computers and the Earth to the Moon. We've had 11
Presidents and 5 Cowboys' Super Bowl victories. We even went from 48 to
50 states in this great land. But what hasn't changed over the past 57 years is
the primary goal of The Legacy at Preston Hollow - to serve Jewish Seniors
with dignity, professionalism and care. That's the promise we made 57 years
ago and that's the promise we keep today.

Windsor Senior Living holds seder
On Sunday, March 28, Windsor Senior Living held its first Passover
seder, the start of an annual tradition. All the Jewish residents were ex-
cited to participate, and many family members attended as well. Ilene
Brill, Human Resource
director, and her hus-
band Alvin created a
special Haggadah for
the service and led the
seder. Robin Kessler,
daughter of resident
Barney Goodstein, do-
nated a beautiful silver
Kiddush cup for Eli-
jah's cup. Chef Jimmy
Wilson (second-place
winner at the Kosher
Chili Cookoff) outdid
himself with a wonder-
ful meal of gefilte fish,
salad, matzah ball soup,
roast chicken with roasted potatoes and green beans. A beautiful fruit
cup completed the meal.
It was an evening of spirituality, laughter and Jewish connection to
past generations as our ancestors' deeds were honored and to the future
generation as a grandchild read the four questions.

ing director, at 972-354-4444 or stop by and visit at 7750 LBJ Fwy., Dallas,

AGING
continued from p. 11
Rabbi Menashe will speak about
advanced medical derivatives (sus-
taining life with medical technol-
ogy) and the Jewish perspective on
assisted suicide.
He believes senior citizens are
an integral part of the Jewish com-
munity and it's significant to know
how to care for them. Menashe
added that this event appeals to
a spectrum of people, including
adult children who need to help
their parents, or someone who
must take care of a spouse.
"The objective is for people to
talk about aging when they aren't
in crisis mode," he said. "In crisis
mode, it's difficult to ensure that
values [are upheld] and wishes are
made. When we take time to study,
talk and see what options are out
here, it ensures that when we are
faced with adversity, we can emerge
through it in a Jewish manner."
Maribeth Lipscomb, who is
helping organize the vendor fair,
"When we are
faced with adver-
sity, we can emerge
through it in a
Jewish manner."
Rabbi Joe Menashe,
Congregation Shearith Israel
added that being able to connect
generations is a central part of Ju-
daism. She hopes those from many
facets of the community will at-
tend.
"The overall importance is to
reconcile people to the idea that
aging is not the end of the world
and we need to find the good part
of it," she said. "There is a lot the
older generation can give to young
people. This is happening to enrich
people's lives and let them know
what others need."
