though.
Superintendent S. P. Cowan
told the board that he would
study the situation and make a
recomendation. That means the
entire idea has not been re-
jected.
However, Business Manager
Jorge Guerra pointed out that
the placing of :such a juke l>ox
in the cafeteria would slow dowr.
the flow of students through the
cafeteria.
High School principal Ruben
Saenz pointed out that Mercedes
has such a juke box in the ca-
feteria and even uses the cafe-
teria for study hall. Guerra
said this may be true but the
Mercedes school only feeds the
high school at that cafeteria and
that Rio's must feed grades one
through 12 at ours.
Why does it have to be in the
cafeteria anyway?

Rattlers
score
first points
Quarterback David Garcia
scored both touchdowns and
passed for both conversions to
spark the Crystal City J ave-
lirias of 14-AAA to a 1G-G j.on-
district victory over the Rio
Grande City Friday.
The district 1C-AAA Ratt-
lers, who slipped to 0-0, scored
their first points this season in
the second quarter when quar-
terback Praxedes Bazan scam-
pered 52 yards down the mid-
dle, breaking three tackles
enroute to the Rattlers' lone
touchdown to slip their deficit
to 86.
The Javelinas scored in the
opening period on Garcia's 1G
yard end sweep, capping a G2-
yard drive on the third play
after a 30-yard and six yard
runs. Garcia then hit Jesse
Gonzalez with the two point
conversion aerial.
In the third quarter, Crystal
City wrapped up the win on a
five yard scoring run by Gar-
cia capping a 08 yard march in
12 plays. Garcia connected with
Gonzalez again for the bonus
two points.
Rio Grande City, which had
10 first downs, drove to the
Javelinas nine yardline in the
second quarter but fumbled the
ball away. Crystal City had
eight first downs.
The Javelinas had 200 yards
on the ground and three yards
in the air while the Rattlers
had 129 rushing and 04 via the
airways. The Rattlers hit on
five of 10 passes and had two
stolen.
