SAME PLACE-ANOTHER SNAKE- When Cipriano saw this six foot 10 inch monster it
reminded him of another snake that came crawling out of the same area towards his yard.
The other snake was killed by Mario Lopez and it was about 6 feet, 11 inches and had 22
rattlers on it. The one Cipriano killed this weekend had 18 rattlers and came from the same
brush cover area in front of his home at 604 Dr. Martin Drive. "1 guess it's going to take a
child getting bitten before someone wakes up to the fact that the brushed area is dangerous
for our children." Cipriano says in dismay. (Herald photo by trejo)
Gas Workers
Will Strike
HOUSTON - A union
representative said late Tues-
day that Houston and Beaumont
employes of Extex would walk
off their jobs today.
Extex is the new name of
United Gas Co., which delivers
natural gas to consumers in
both cities.
Harry Burk said about 400
Houston employes and 80 in
Beaumont—all members of Oil,
Chemical and Atomic Workers
Union Local 4-227—would
strike.
Extex officials could not be
reached for comment late Tues-
day.
Burk said the union would co-
operate with the company in
any emergency which might ef-
fect hospitals or schools.
The local membership re-
jected the company's last offer
in a vote a week ago, a source
said. Details of the offer were
not learned.
