Tax Man To Be In RGC
State Comptroller Bob
Bullock announced he is
sending a representative
from the Donna Field office
to Rio Grande City on Friday
January 27, 1978 to assist
local taxpayers and answer
questions about state taxes.
Bullock said Enforcement
Officer Eloy Saenz will meet
with local taxpayers at the
Starr County Courthouse
from 9AM to 1 PM.
We're trying to cut the red
tape in this office and we

Fire Reports
A fire occurred at La
Grulla Elementary School at
7:15 p.m. on January 18.
It was quickly brought
under control by the Rio
Grande City Volunteer Fire
Department, who had some
difficulty in the ceiling
overhand area, where the
fire had traveled.
The cause of the fire was a
defective fiourescent light,
but it was discovered in the
early stages by a night
watchman.
The damage was
estimated at approximately
$2,000.00.
On January 19, the Rio
Grande City Volunteer Fire
Department was kept busy
with car fires.
The first call came in at
7:00 p.m. when a 1976
Chevrolet pickup truck at La
Garza Ranch burned. It was
completely destroyed before
arrival of the firemen.
At 8:30 p.m. the same
night the firemen were
called to the site of a
Plymouth on fire fourteen
miles east of Rio Grande
City on Highway 83. Traffic
was tied up from both
directions for 20 or 30
minutes, The car was a
complete loss.
sessions with taxpayers help
do just that, " Bullock ad-
ded.
"If Starr County - area
merchants, or anyone else
for that matter, have any
questions about state taxes
or need help in preparing tax
forms, Mr. Saenz will be
there to assist them,"
Bullock said.
The Donna Field Office,
headed by Mario Cantu,
serves Hidalgo and Starr
Counties.
Bullock reminded those
taxpayers who are unable to
meet with his representative
on Jan. 27,1978 that they can
still get their questions
answered quickly by calling
his TOLL-FREE tax in-
formation number in Austin.
That number is 1-800-252-
5555.
