Four of the robbers boarded the
train near Vinita on the night of the
11th and took their seats as passen-
gers. When the conductor, Chick
Warner, came through taking up
fares and tickets lie at<ked one of tha
four men for his fare. The man put
his hand in his pocket a* if to gut
out bis ticket,but instead he brought Ion
out • pistol, threw it down on
Warner and ordered him to show
the way to tho expross car. Warner
attempted to seize the weapon when
then robber fired, sending a bullet
through the loft side of Warner's
face and coming out near the back of
his nock. Then a passenger seated
directly bchiiid the robbers fired,
sending a bullet crashing through
hia brain, instantly killing him.
Firing followed in which another
robber was wounded, but all three
escaped. Warner and the dead rob-
ber were conveyed to Parsons, Kan-
sas. The dead robber's name is
Wilson. The name* of the other
throe are unknown.

be in tho hands of the officers of
the law, and if any scoundrel Iks con-
victed of such an attempt (I do not
know whether the jury would con-
vict him or not), wo shall endeavor
