in him, a man of ability and who
has faithfully and conscientious-

Publicity and progress are
more nearly related than some
of us are disposed to think.
Advertising is an essential
branch of business, and the
individual who does not avail
himself of its power must pre-
pare to "go way back nud sit
down."
These bonds were signed by
(the lamented VV. S. Craft as
i Mayor, who has long since passed
to his reward, and by F. A.
Orgain, as City Secretary, who
has served in the same capacity
continuously since that time, but
who is now voluntarily retiring
from the olfice he has held so
,onK- . , ,
Without any intention of de
tracting in the least from other
deserving city officials, in our
opinion, this notice would be
incomplete did we fail to render
unto Mr. f. A. Orgain mead of
praise to which he is entitled by
reason of the good management
of the affairs of his olfice, and
the efficient service he has
rendered the city. He has been
honest and faithful in the per-
formance of every duty, and has
protected the interests of this
city as if they were his own.
The citizenship generally, and
the Advertiser specially, regret
that he will no longer be con
nected with the city govern-
ment.
While it feel good to be free of
bonded indebtedness, the Adver-
tiser would advocate another
bond issue by the city for any
needed permanent public im-
provement, such as a sewerage
system, paving the streets or
buying the water and light
plant.

Gentlemen:—
We cong-iatulat you upon your incren-ed CofTee
and Tea business during 1912, as . hown uy our re-
cords and we think you will be gratified by the fol-
lowing comparative figures:
During 1911 yon purchased from us 3020
pounds of Coffee and 170 pounds of Tea.
This last year 1912 you purchased 3386
pounds of Coffee and 241 pounds of Tea.
Do you realize that this is an increase of 12 per
cent in the sales of your CofTee Department and 42
per cent in the sales of your Golden Gate Tea De-
partment.
Here is the conclusive evidence of the Folger
Quality! With your continued good efforts, these
figures can be materially increased in 1913. Both
quality and enthusiasm are neccssary to produce the
desired results, and you have laid the foundation for
a very enviable business on Folger's Products.
These sales during 1912 mean both profit and
prestige to you—profit from the sale of each pound
and package that left your store—prestige from the
fact that you have for sale the highest grade goods
in their respective lines obtainable.

Bastrop and it should be gratifying to you to know
that this business belongs exclusively to your good
selves, and is a trade your competitors cannot take
