Last Saturday, the Third Trades
Day was held in Bastrop, and by
far exceeded all others. The largest
crowd of fall buyers that has been
een in Bastrop in many years was
present to participate in the many
bargains that are beiriK offered by
the merchants of our city.
If you have not already visited
Bastrop on these days. It will pay
you to prepare your wants and be
here on nev Saturday Your neigh-
bors have already been here and are
coming back, ask them about the
many bargains and other induce-
ments that the merchants of Bastrop
arc giving you to come to Hastrop
to do your trading. Remember that
our merchants live here, spend tin
money that you pay them right in I
Bastrop, help support the schools,
■ liurches and pay taxes <=n as to keep
peace officers on the lookout for yom
i rotection; to keep you and vour
• iniily safe from criminals that in
Midi' the country.
Bastrop is the nio^t friendly town
in the state. Walk into one of the
local stores, aril the clerks don't1
ii.e< t you with a rough tone, asking
"what do you want", but they meet
;> t with a smile, and .i^k you to
lu yourself a id family at hotnt
• hile in town. When you are ,. ! s
i ss, who do you go to first. You
go to your local merchant and tell
Ii iii your troubles, and he will carry
hi over for another year. Ask the
erchants of the other to-, where
'hey lon't know you af'er they get
tir last dollar to carry you over and
■' ■■ what he will tell you He will
-ay "I am worry, but we can't run
v u at a thirty day "V 'early basis,
and if you can't pay the bill that
you already owe us, we will have to
■;irn it over to a lawyer for eollec
tion." That will cost you more
money, an>l will nia"ke you fee! bad.
it I then you will come hack to th -
hom«' merchant- and ask him for
credit, and of course, naturally as
he knows you and knows your cir-
cumstances, he will say "Sure, Bill
or .lohn, or whatever the name may
be, 1 know you and anything you
want don't fail to come here and ytiu
can get what you want and pay m?
when you get the money." S > lon't
you think to be fair and ;i]Utirc, yo-j
should buy your merchard'fe from
him when you have the .vady ca ;h to
spend. The merchants have to pay
their bills as well as you do. an i if
they don't pay them in the illot.-d
course cf time, what happens to
then;'! The wholesale houses get
togethei and tell hini if he doesn't
pay at once that they will throw
him into bankruptcy, and there he
will lose his good name for the sim-
ple reason of trusting the public
that he thought would stand by him
and jpuv him so that he would lie
able to meet his obligations You|
pay cash when you go to the cities or
other towns where you are not
known, so why not pay cash at home.
Come to Bastrop next Saturday,
and see the many bargains that the
merchants are offering you, arid
really you will be surprised, and won-
der why you had not come before.
