PANHANDLE, Dec. 1 Mrs. Madge
M. Salmon, charged with (be mur-
der of tier husband in September
was given u sentence of five years
by a jury in Judge Newton P. Wil-
lis' court here at 10:15 this morn-
ing.
The case went, to the jury at 2:30
yesterday afternoon, and with the
first ballot, one juror held out for
the death penalty, in the second, two
voted for acquittal, while ten asked
for a penitentiary sentence, and
in the seventh ballot the jurors
reached a compromise vote, of five
years in the state penitentiary.
Mi Salmon was killed last Sep-
tember as he lay asleep on a porch
at their country home near Groom,
southeast of Panhandle. The wo-
man made a confession at the time

torney of Carson county, as Mrs.
Salmon lay in tied in the county

received on the same night, on
which her husband was killed. In

hat for winter resort wear has a
swathed band of crep de chine n-
