OBITUARY
Geneva Luddington was born in Guadalupe County, March 31,1909 She
was affectionately given the name "Sweetie" which effectively embodied her
character throughout her lifetime. She was preceded m death by her husband,
Rev C. L. Luddington, Sr., both parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
On September 21,1925, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Rev Clifford
Lester Luddington. To this union two sons and eight daughters were added.
They were happily married for 61 years.
Surrendering her life to the Master at an early age her Christian journey
began, leading her to broad fields of service for our Lord and Savior, Jesus
Christ.
In the year of 1937, the family moved to San Antonio, TX. To ensure her
family would receive a strong Christian foundation, she united with Corinth
Baptist Church where the late Rev W B. Myers was pastor. Worshipping as a
family was always a part of her household.
In 1957, she along with her family, moved their membership to West Mt.
Calvary Baptist Church, San Antonio, Texas where her husband was called as
pastor. They remained and worked there together faithfully for three years. In
1960, in obedience to God's will, her husband accepted the call to pastor
Greater Bethel Baptist Church, San Marcos, Texas. As always, she served as a
dedicated, devoted wife and member for 17 years. She gave freely of her time
and substance for the winning of lost souls.
Upon returning to San Antonio in 1978, she reunited with greater Corinth
Baptist Church where Rev B. T Alexander was pastor. She remained a faithful
member.
Sister Luddington was a powerful Prayer Warrior. For years her prayers and
encouraging words brought comfort to the hearts and minds of many
Singing hymns was another one of her specialties. She didn't mind striking
up an "Old 100" anytime, any place, anywhere. Even during her illness she
encouraged the hospital staff with her testimonies and singing. Her sense of
humor, unselfishness, and love are great blessings to all who knew her.
Sister Luddmgton's earthly journey came to an end at Southwest General
Hospital, Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 7:25 p.m. It can be truly said, "she
fought a good fight, she finished her course, she kept the faith." Her legacy will
live forever.
