AVONDALE BAPTIST CHURCH
Greetings from the Avondale Baptist family. On
March 27, we will be having a pot-luck fellowship fol-
lowing the morning worship service to honor Mrs. Joyce
Moore for her many years of dedicated service as our
nursery worker. She "has been a tremendous blessing
to so many children and their parents. We would love
for you to worship with us this Sunday. God is a good
God and has joy and peace for your life. It is found in
a relationship with Jesus Christ. In our morning wor-
ship service, Pastor Jason will continue the series of
sermons called: "Footsteps of Faith." As we continue to
look at Abraham's journey of faith, Brother Jason will be
preaching this Sunday on "The All-Sufficiency of God,"
from Genesis 17:1-8,15-19. In our Sunday evening ser-
vice we will continue our study of the boc of Daniel by

BROADWAY BAPTIST CHURCH
If you have ever watched the Wizard of OZ, you might
remember the line: "Lions and tigers and bears, oh
my . . ." Looking around our work we might be say-
ing, "Earthquakes and pestilence and famine, oh my . .
." With the tsunami that hit Japan, the hurricane that
devastated Haiti, the dead fish in California, and the
other disasters reported on the news people are con-
stantly saying, "Preacher, aren't these the signs of the
times?" "Do you think it is the end?" The Bible says that
110 man knows the day or the hour, so I can't say when
the end will come, but I can say there is noth tg left
to hinder the return of Christ. We read in Matthew 24
that as the days of Noah were so shall the time be and
in II Thessalonians Paul tells us there will be a "falling
away". What would lead to such behavior? This Sunday
Pastor Chris will show us the time line in Revelation 2
ant 3 that will cause our world and many churches to
"fall away" and then give us practical truths to ensure we
don't become part hat crowd.
Men, we are meeting Monday, March 21, to study
God's Word, pray, enjoy refreshments, and fellow-
ship. We will continue our Bible study called: "God's Big
Plans". Make plans now to be a part of MNF. Our goal is
to try to have these fellowships every third Monday.
We have started a Bible study (Midweek service) on
Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. for those that have difficulty
getting out at night. This service will also be for anyone
that wants to come. Our regular midweek service will
still be on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m.
We are hosting a West Texas Youth Rally called
"PureVerb". It1 be held at Six Flags on April 16. If you
would like to attend or be involved in it, call the church
at 235-2730.
We want to give you a personal invitation to come
worship with us this Sunday, the 20th. Our Life Groups
(Bible Study) start at 10 a.m., morning worship service
is at 10:50 a.m. and our evening service is at 6 p.m.
FAITH HARVEST PENTECOSTAL CHURCH
Faith Harvest Pentecostal Church would like to invite
you to come join us in our celebration of Jesus Christ

Sam Houston. Our service times are 10 a.m. on Sunday
mornings, 6 p.m. on Sunday evenings, and 7 p.m. on
Wednesday evenings. We have Sunday school for adults,

camp!

Bennett at 325-242-4750 or Deacon Bobby Hoover at

FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH
Come join us for worship this Sunday morning at
Faith Lutheran Church. Bible study is from 9:30-10:30
a.m., where we take a more in depth look at the Sunday
readings. Our regular worship service begins at 10:45
a.m. and we also offer a weekly worship service at the
Sweetwater Healthcare Center from 9-9:20 a.m. Also,
we are in the season of Lent and have a Wednesday eve-
ning soup supper from 6-7 and services from 7-7:40.
This Sunday we will be speaking about 'promises'. All
of us have made promises such as one to go on a fishing
trip, or from parents to be at a school play, or in wedding
vows. When a promise is broken against us, we expe-
rience pain. However that pain is nothing compared
to the pain Jesus suffered for the promises we have
broken to God and other people The good news is that
the blessing God promised to Abraham is yours today
through the cross of Christ! In Christ, we are forgiven all
our sins and given not just the title "sons of Abraham"
but "sons of God"! We have something better than 'the

promised land', but the promise of a future 'new heaven
and earth'. In Christ, those promises are as sure as the
promises made to Abraham bur thousand years ago.
On Wednesday evenings, we are going through the
series, ".Jesus, Peter, a: me" and his week "It's All
About Misunderstanding", Peter and the rest of the dis-
ciples misunderstood the mission of Jesus Christ. They
were thinking in terms of a present earthly kingdom ar
so did not understand the Lord when He saic that He
must be taken, tried, condemned, and crucified. We also
misunderstand Jesus if He is viewed as a 'Wal-Mart' for
material blessings, or as Savior but not the Lord of every
area of our life, or His Church as a place to be married
and buried, but not much more. No. Jesus wants to be
Savior and Lord for every moment, day, and year of our
life. Yes we all are guilty of misunderstanding Him. Yet
we also remember that in the accomplishment of His
mission He paid for our sins. In Him we are forgiven
and have His eternal peace and strength to follow after
Him.
Our Tuesday morning Bible study is from 9-10 in the
church fellowship hall and the focus is Psalm 23. The
Thursday evening Men's Bible study is from 6:30-7:30,
where we are continuing our study "The Challenge of
Islam". Contact the church for location. Study materials
are found at the 'Men's Network' www.lhmmen.com and
may be ordered or downloaded for free. Faith Lutheran
Church is located at 1607 Josephine Street, one block
off of East Broadway, across from the Sweetwater
Healthcare Center, (325) 235-2773.

Christ's crucifixion. The laying of palm leaves follows on
Palm Sunday and on Easter Sunday the "Wooden Cross"
is adorned with flowers. Nelda and Melvin Walker will
read the scripture for the second Sunday of Lent and
attach the wheat and grapes to the Cross. The wheat
