CONSERVATION
* t
People of Texas want to conserve
natural resources. But resources are like
water in a river... they have no value
unless they can be made to perform a
service. True conservation, therefore, is in
putting natural resources to use for the
benefit of all mankind.
Take the situation in the Conroe field, in
Montgomery County, where United Gas,
back in 1934, built a 1600-horsepower
compressor station to take low-pressure
casinghead gas produced in conjunction
with oil, compress it and deliver it to a
market where it could be put to use.
United Gas gave value to this natural re-
source, provided royalties to lease-hold-
ers, provided tax revenues for the State,
and provided another source of depend-
able service for United Gas customers.
This is only one example of many in
which United Gas seeks to conserve
Texas gas by making it available for use.
