Mrs. S. L. Brannon, Jr., will di

Mr. Smith said the appointment

Mrs. Brannon served with Mrs.

"These funds will enable the
local chapter of the National
Foundation to continue providing
whatever assistance is needed
when polio strikes," declared Mr.
A. Long, chairman of the Bas
trop County Chapter. "The Na-
tional Foundation has always
seen that no polio patient shall
go without care for lack of funds.
It is a fact, too, that this care
continues until the patient has
made his maximum recovery."

THE EXPRESSION ON BONZO'S l ACE might be interpreted
as one of pride, or self-satisfaction, or just plain disgust depend
mg on how he might he feeling at the moment! Because Bonzo is
probably the only canine in Bastrop County ever to have undergone
a tonsilectomy!
It all happened when Bonzo came down with pneumonia some
time ago, and was confined to a hospital in Austin until the crisis
was passed It was then that the doctor discovered that his tonsils
had become badly infected; whereupon, the operation was performed,
and Bonzo is well on the road to recovery.

Bastrop citizens will be asked to
turn on their porch lights on the
night which will be designated to
make the labor and census indus-
trial survey of the town, accord
in? to Mrs. \V. E. Mayinard, chair-
man of the drive.
The survey is being undertaken
by the civic committees of the La
die> Reading Circle and the Lost
Pines Garden Club, with Mrs. R.
M. Wiley as co-chairman, as a
part of a concentrated effort on
the part of the town to secure a
small industry for Bastrop.
Each family will be asked to
fill out a simple questionnaire for
the worker who calls on them,
giving information that is neces-
sary for the city to have before
further work on selling the town
as an industrial location can be
done.
LPWGA TO HOLD
PUTTING CONTEST
Mrs. A. E. Frederick was win-
ner in the 18 hole round of golf
and Mrs. P. J. Dodson in the 9*
hole round at the regular Tues-
day game of the Lost Pines Wo-
men's Golf Association. Each re
ceived a golf ball.
Next week the club will hold
a putting contest.

The town will be divided into
zone- and blocks, with captains
and workers in each division, so
that the entire town can be cover
ed with if! the space of several
hours.
The realizing of this project,
however, must bo through the co-
operation of every person in the
town -every individual must feel
the responsibility and accept it,
knowing that his enthusia. m and
efforts, joined with the enthu-
siasm and efforts of everybody
else in town, can bring prosperi-
ty, at least on a small scale, to
Bastrop.
Be prepared to do your part to
help in this undertaking. Remem-
ber that it will mean better busi
ih'ss for everybody, steady jobs
for those who need them, gradual
and steady growth of the town,
and economic stability.
Think it over carefully, and
then discuss it with ur neigh-
bors. Spread the tu>ws wherever
you can—think it— talk it— get
excited about it— and help make
it a reality!
