"Where Bastrop Shops and Saves"
Baptist Church to
resume regular
hours September 1
The First Baptist Church of
Bastrop will resume the regu-
lar meeting time for Sunday
School and morning worship
>eivice on the fir-t Sunday in
September. This will be on
September 1. Sunday School
will begin at ! :4.'i and the
morning worship .-ervice will
begin at 11 a. m.
The experiment of early
morning time for the Sunday
morning services seemed rath
er successful, according to the
pastor, 1 >ewey Baldwin, and he
-ay> that next summer the ear-
ly time may be tried for the
entire summer.
those who are searching for a
place to live.
They tell about a rather pa-
thetic young man who came in
one morning looking for a fur-
nished home for his family
aftei a long trip to Bastrop.
Chamebr listing- showed a
richness of -ix such apartments
or houses and Mr. Goerner was
delighted to welcome the young
man to Ba.-trop, and give him
the addresses. Late that same
day. the fellow returned to the
Main Street office, footsore,
weary and without a place to
live. Each of the listed address-
es had already been rented.
He lost a valuable day's time,
Bastrop lo.-t some of it.- attrac-
tiveness to him and his family
and someone whose unrented
property was not listed lost a
Kood tenant. Also the new te
nants and the owners of the
listed property were disturbed
by an uninvited caller.
This story illustrates the
need to call in all listings and.
just as importantly, to call in
all rentals.
