Queer politics are all the rage —
get a free 'Ed Oakley for Dallas Mayor' T-shirt
Who's kidding whom? The "fed, white and blue" graphic designs on political campaigns
all look the same. And it's a look that only a "median voter" mother could love.
But if City Councilman Ed Oakley wins the June 16th runoff election, Dallas would be
the first big city to elect a gay mayor. The excitement is totally building. And right now, what's
hotter than Paris Hilton shopping for Bibles are "Ed Oakley for Dallas Mayor" T-shirts.
With one of these cotton numbers, at least you look like you care about local politics.
Even better: The T-shirts are fashionably free. Just pick up one at the Oakley
campaign headquarters in the Dallas Design District.
On Thursday, Oakley campaigners had two huge boxes filled with large
and extra-large shirts. Oakley's assistant David G. Chavez says a new ship-
ment of tees will arrive by Tuesday. Since it's Memorial Day weekend, the
office has Monday off. But if you call beforehand, you can pick up some.
Maybe you'll even get a chance to meet Ed. He's pretty busy at the
moment, hoping to raise another $2 million before the ainoff. On Saturday,
he's going to be shooting another television campaign.
Oh yeah don't forget to vote.
