OB ITUARY
Mary Elizabeth, the oldest child of William
Smith and Hattie Allen, was born in San Marcos,
Texas. She and the two other daughters - Irene
and Carrie - were reared in Seguin, Texas. She
professed a hope in Christ at an early age and
was baptized in the Second Baptist Church, Seguin,
Texas during the pastorate of Dr. W. B. Ball.
In 1913, she married Grafton Williams and to
this union was born one daughter, Geraldine.
When the family moved to San Antonio, she
joined Mount Zion First Baptist Church.
She received much pleasure from helping
others as exemplified by the fact that six children,
other than her daughter, found a home with her.
She dearly loved her church and enjoyed the ser-
vices, which she attended regularly as long as
health permitted.
On August 2k, I967 at 8:20 P.M., she slipped
away to rest after waging a valiant fight with
illness for more thafs/25 years.
Surviving Mrs. Williams are her daughter,
two grandchildren: Alfred and Carolyn James, two
sisters: Mrs. Irene King, of Seguin, Texas and
Mrs. Carrie Inman, of San Antonio and a number of
other relatives and friends.
