Celebration
Celebrate 20 years of public television in the
Panhandle by tuning in to K AC V March 1-12 to
see all-new specials and favorite local produc-
tions from years past. Old friends of the station
will also appear live in studio to commemorate
the 20th anniversary.
Local programs scheduled nclude "And
There M ill be Sounds," "Hugo Loewenstern:
That Alto Man," "Rick Husband: Man with a
Mission," "John Bayless: Music is There Al-
ways," "Cadillac Ranch: Fame, Fins and Fan-
tasy," "Doug Smith: There it is" and more. New
specials include "We Gather Together: The
Story of Llano Cemetery," "Daniel O'Donnell
at Home in Ireland," "The Osmonds' 50th
Anniversary Reunion" and "Celebrating the
Complete Jane Austen."
Viewers are encouraged to join KACV-TV
during this event. Those who do will qualify for
special "thank you" gifts, such as CDs, DVDs,
and exclusive station mugs. Contributors at the
$75 level or above will also receive the KACV
MemberCard, good for discounts at Amarillo-
area restaurants, entertainment venues and
bed-and-breakfast inns across the state.
KACV-TV began operation in 1988 and
reaches over 400,000 residents of the northern
Texas Panhandle. As a PBS member station,
KACV provides viewers with recognizable
television series ncluding "NOVA" and "An-
tiques Roadshow," and approximately a third
of the station's programming is targeted to chil-
dren. Other station services include broadcast-
ng college credit courses, developing outreach
services for preschool literacy and developing
partnerships with area non-profits. KACV-TV
is operated by Amarillo College.

Hemphill Co. Veterans Memorial Monument
VFW recognizes
Javier Rodriguez
Army Specialist Javier Rodriguez was pre-
sented with a gift from the Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post #7469 on Monday afternoon at the
Hemphill County Veterans Memorial Monu-
ment. Rodriguez, 21, is on a two-week leave
from duty in Baqubah, Iraq, where he has been
stationed since April 2007. The local VFW
gave the soldier a temporary card membership
to Post #7469, as well as a gift certificate to the
Cattle Exchange so he can take his family out
for dinner as an early Mother's Day observance
before returning to Iraq. "We are giving this as
appreciation of Rodriguez service to our coun-
try" said Jack Wright, Post Quartermaster.
