The 13th Tank Battalion has
started training this week. The
Battalion is flavored with all the
sounds and sights of a unit activ
ely engaged in training. The class
room has shown great improve
ment in the past week. Further
improvements that are planned
include painting the ceiling ele
vated seating and new instruc
tional aids.
Lt Audrie Butler is proudly han
ding out cigars with "It's a girl
nine pounds and one ounce" The
new daughter is named Patricia
Sue.
Our condolences are extended
to WO Roscoe Saunders whose
mother passed away this month.

The battalion boxing team has
started training for the new sea
sons boxing bouts which start Sep
tember 13th. Lt. John W. Coolidge
in charge of the team had a fine
initial turn out with many fine
prospects among the group.
M-Sgt Harold Feck is now per
manently assuming the duties of
first sergeant replacing M-Sgt
Callen Burris who presently is
on leave. Also on leave are our
field first and Mess Sergeant M-

a patrol on a night compass prob
lem on the 20th of August and ran
into enemy opposition when he
reached the designated point. It
seems that the patrol received a
delux spray job from mother
skunk.
Watch out for "Dead Eye Dick"

er was the high scorer in the pistol
firing for record with the score
of 282.

team last Thursday.

There is still no sign of the great
M-Sgt Angel Face. He really must
have been tired of this Army life.

The job of re-decorating the in
terior of Battalion Headquarters
is underway. Railings and divid
ers have already been construct
ed and the interior decorating
plans include the repainting and
renovating of the Headquarters
quarters.
The Bn Staff was forced to op
erate at reduced strength for a
few days last week as M-Sgt Jo
seph A. Wells operations NCO
fired the M-l for record. When
the qualifiers' scores were pub
lished on orders Sergeant Wells
did not appear. The people in the
pits must have fouled up or was
it the rifle?

The personnel section is the
first time in a long while that such
a young outfit received a superior
rating in an I. G. inspection.

program for beautification of its'
area. The past few evenings the
troops have wielded their entren
ching tools to improve the appear
ance. The company carpenters
have worked long and hard on

repairs in general.

enlistment leave. Pvt Del Valle
Reyes has departed camp for a
15 days leave in New York.
Mrs. James C. Dunn arrived
here last week to join her hus
band M-SGT James Dunn.
