Pursuant to call members of the
Allen Street Clvle League held an
enthusiastic meeting at the home of
Prof and Mrs. H. D. Winn Allen
and Flora - streets last Tuesday
night. Meeting opened In regular
form by Vice-President John Jack-
son; a resolution deploring the
death of the president the late S. W.
J. Lowery was read and inserted
upon the records of organization.
Following this was an election of
officers. Prof. H. D. Winn was
elected president and the following
officers were re-elected: J. Fack-
son Vice-President; Mrs. A. V.
West Treasurer; J. A. Austin .Sec-
retary. Next In order was the question
of paving which was liberally dis-
cussed before final action was taken.
A committee composing the follow-
ing named persons: judge J. L.
Turner Dr. C. Columbus Harper
Mrs A. V. West J. A. Austin Mrs.
C. P.. Boswell.
W. R. Richerson and S. Cofleld
were appointed to confer with Street
and Bridge Commissioner J. D.
Rose. In addition to this a petition
will be presented. At an early
hour Saturday morning the com-
mittee plans final action.
A report of the hearing will be
read in open chamber at the leag-
ue's next regular meeting to be
held at the home of Prof. H. D.
