with calling It together that it must
meet at 1- o'clock on Monday to can-
van tho voten of the State. The Su-
preme Court Judges have not yet de-
cided an Injunction In tho mandamus
rases ami this action of the Hoard
seems to obviate the necessity of ailoh
lecl.il. in an thin will bo precisely what
the Democratic nmiiagern prayed the
court to command to be done. The
Hoard will admit committees of each
party and ttie chairmen of the two
Slate com mil teen to its decision. The
admission of newspaper correspon-

ties of the Statu Hoard of Canvassers
of Florida also respecting the claims
of Governor Stearns to canvass the
votes of the paoplo of thin State for
presidential electors and also respect
ing th-: delay to beglu tho canvassing
of the voles oft lie State aa follows:
First Governor Stearns lias no an
thorily under tlio laws of Florida to
canvass the vote for presidential elec-
tors. Second A Slate Hoard of Canvas
sers is constituted by the laws of Flor
ida act of February 117 18112 consisting
of the Secretary of Statu Comptroller
ami Attorney General. Tlio aameaut
requires votes to be llrst named by a
member of the Hoard to-wlt the Sec-
retary of State ami also requires him
to notify tho other two members of
the Hoard to assemble and proceed to
canvass the county returns.
Third The delay of tho Secretary of
Stale to notify his associated members
ou the Stato Hoard of Canvassers to
assemble ami proceed with the canvass
of the returns which he has received
ban been publicly protested against by
electors voted for at the last election.
Moreover the members of the Hoard
have each of them been commanded
by a competent court of this Htate to
show cause why they should not go on
with their duty. The continuance of
such delay ou the part of the Secretary
of State would have the misfortune of
preventing proofs of alleged frauds
from being exhibited before the Hoard
an ground for purging the returns or
the misfortune possibly of preventing
tlio volo of presidential electors of
Florida from being oast la conformity
to the will of the people.
