Carpenter a merchant was awaken-
ed by a burglar early this morning
who was trying to gain entrance
through a window.
Mr. Carpenter fired ono shot and
hearing no noise thought he 'had
miesed and the burglar had escaped.

City Attorney Orrlck today in
