• aid that American business, l\v
and large, has earned a bad rep-
utation- The reputation, he said,
is that of opposing everything
that spells greater security for
the little man.
Speaking to businessmen at
the annual meeting of the super
i market institute in Chicago,
l.uckman said that American
business in the past years has
: fought collective bargaining,
: health and safety ordinances,
and child labor laws.
"We yip; i'd and yowled again-
st minimum wage laws." said
l.uckman. "and actually opposed
increases taxes for education "
Luckman told his fellow busi-
nessmen they should not be
: complacent about the republi-
can victory. He said reform of
business will have to come be-
fore reform of labor. He urged
hi- colleagues to work for at
| least a ion per cent increase in
I the standard of living of Ameri-
can wage earners by 1970.

Fugitive From Black
Market Or Publicity
Gag, It Was Some Bull
I .OS ANGELES. No\ S (U.R)—
' They're trying to figure out.
just what the bull was doing in
the Los Angeles Union Station
yesterday.
The halt-ton beast wrought
; havoc in the station for nearly
an hour before the dog catchers
branched out from their regular
duties and roped the bull.
Newsmen think the animal
was a publicity agent for a live-
stock show opening the end of
liiis month. Trainmen are sure
he was a fugitive fro ma black
market.

V-2 Rocket Roars
Over New Mexico,
No Damage Done
WHITE SANDS PROVING
GROUNDS, N. M Nov. 8 (U.R)
A Nazi V-2 rocket went roaring
over the New Mexico desert yes-
terday when the steering mech-
anism went haywire. But no one
was hurt when the bomb was
brought to earth.
The rocket made a perfect
takeoff at the White Sands Prov -
ing Grounds. But a faulty steer-
ing mechanism caused the rock-
et to level off at 500 feet and fly |
in a horizontal direction. It trav-
eled five miles in 10 seconds and
finally was brought to earth
i without damaging any property
! or endangering any lives.

FLUSH OUT KIDNEY?
THIS DOCTOR'S WAY
• Backache, loss of the old pep, getting up
nights, and headache are often caused by
nothing more than improper kidney ac-
tion due to excess acid in the urine. The
kidneys are one of Nature's ways of re-
; moving impurities from the blood. And
when these impurities back up. trouble
may start.
| So if you have these troubles, give your
kidneys and bladder a good flushing out
| by taking Dr. Kilmer's Swamp-Root. It
works on the kidneys to flush them out
... increasing the flow of urine to help re-
; lieve that excess acidity and ease that
; burning sensation when you pass water
... helps that bladder irritation that
! makes you get up nights.
Made of 16 herbs, roots, vegetables, and
balsams, Swamp-Root is absolutely non-
! habit forming. Millions have taken it for
: 3 generations . . . often with wonderful
: results Caution: take as directed.
For free trial supply, send to Dept. Y,
Kilmer & Co., Inc., Box 1255, Stamford,
; Conn. Or—get full-sized bottle of Swamp-
Root today at your drugstore.
