true genius that the highest or.ier of historic !

Frou Frou is a French play and is therefore
doridodlv French v. and is host understood
and enjoyed by the informed. But in this
criticism if it can so be called there
is not space for a resumo of the play. In
the first two acts Frou Frou a nickname

light frivolous frolicksome careless who
nmrrios Monsiour Henri do Surtons not from
love but because her father and
siaters advieo it is the frivolous fashionable
thoughtless butterfly of society. Miss Clax-
ton in the character acts it admirably.
In the third act when sho Un is that sho loves
another man the Count Yalreas and dis-
covers hor dangor sho attempts to re-
turn to the heart of her husband
and to retrain her nlaeo in her homo. Obsta
olos prevent und sho leaves her home and
linds a refuge with the man sho loves.
In j
this act Miss Claton row t" tho degree of

in the homo where sho lived with tho man
she lovod and moot hor husband she was
not as strong as tho situation demanded. Sho
might have rendered the sjene much more
effectively. She has the power to
do so. In tho llflh and last

forgivon her and she only yearns
to see her child once more to hoar hor
husband's words of forgivonoss she
is grand in hor portrayal of the emotions
that wrack the dying woman's bosom.
Evory eye in tbo house was melted to tears
and sobs were hoard all around. Sho showed
then what genius could do. bho arose to tho
grandeur ot its highost achieve-

Miss Etmoro as Paulino was

To the Kill tor of Die lleritld.
You wore kind enough to publish in Tucs
day morning sHkualu my card .asking a
suspension of public opinion until Colonel
Daniel should bo hoard from. After that
was written some cowardly miscreant sought
to murder Col. Daniel lu Austin in the dark.
Ho was seriously hurt and is in no condition
to meet tbo public desire for a full statement.
But enough hns been learned to justify the
statement that the published attack on Col.
Daniol through a polluted shoet was a vile
slander at war with every principle ot honor
and overv essential of truth. I do not an-
prove of several votos cast by Col. Daniel
as well m the last as in tbo present legisla-
ture but those votes in no wiso ailed his
character as a man nf courago and honor.
The peoplo of Dallas county who havo
twico electod him to tho legislature will not
sutler him to be immolated on the strength of
slanderous lies. No generous and high-
toned people none but cowards snoaks and
miscreants will condemn a hitherto honora-
